I am looking for a 2nd car for my wife. Options under consideration are

1) Inokon Getz
2) Myvi
3) Vios J

Inokom Getz's spec is a bit confusing some say got ABS, some say no. Moreover there is Hyundai Getz somemore.

As for Myvi - boot space is small

Vios J manual ok or not. I will be test driving it this weekend. Just want to get some Toyota users' comment on Vios J.
Any current promotion? What is the best discount and freebies available? Any major problems with the car apart from the suspension knocking sound (as mentioned by a few forummers)

Thanks

getz is reasonably good but getting old now, my gf is driving one. a 1.4 manual. good FC. handling and comfort so-so but what else we want to expect?
anyway, all new getz is coming. not malaysia but korea.

myvi is reasnable choice. spacios, cheap for its price, DOHC DVVT and timing chain, 4 speed auto, ABS, airbag except that there's just too many on the roads and handling is like sampan.

vios J is the cheapest japanese car u can get. it has electric power steering, DOHC VVTI 16V and ABS (no airbag though).
it is the lowest spec in vios line up so one could not expect it with extraordinary finishes but rather an entry level to toyota family cars.

the new city is equally a good car at 85K (S spec) vs 85K vios G but u need to fork another 15K for that.

i say, vios J is a good buy. also available in auto spec.

Go for Vios J, good reliability n durability. FC is not the best in its class but still good. Plus, it has luggage space. Sedan is most practical.

Getz has the looks n engine is ok as its sourced by Mitsubishi while transmission from JATCO. Body frame n build is tougher. If u don't mind resale value, u could try.

Anyhow, test drive all kaw2 b4 u buy, worths the fun n to gain experience

Buying the lowest spec vios, i think you better think twice.

If i were you i definitely buy hyundai accent 1.6 (2008) cvvt.

Nice handling. laugh.gif

spacious and more safety than low spec vios.

Tony,

Your range of car is from rm40K to rm70K. What is your actual budget?

If you love your wife, better buy a car with minimum 1 airbag lah!! Skip Vios J which does not even have a single airbag. I know of a friend of mine is saved because of his car fitted with airbag.

Consider Suzuki Swift and Naza 206 also. Good looking car that most female drives.

Better learn to treasure life more.. buy car with a/bag and certain crash test rating..

Fifth Gear showed a 5Star Euro NCAP small hatch crashed a Volvo 940.. though both got a/bags but Volvo serious injury and the lil car unscatched.. so higher safety rating + airbag for safety wise..

If not mistaken below are crash test ratings Euro NCAP for the following:
Waja 3 star
daihatsu Sirion/Myvi 4star
Swift 4star
Sentra/Almera 4 star
Latio 4.5 star
Getz 3.5 star
Civic 5 star
Altis 5 star

All the cars tested frontal 64 kph with dual a/bags.. Side 50kph plus some pedestrian tests.

swift is not bad since most ladies drive it.myvi also ok but really not nice to drive. vios J really "kosong" car, so better get a car which has standard safety features. good luck in making ur decision

Agree that I would not buy a Vios J for my wife. Presumably, if your wife is driving, your child/children if you have any now or in the future will be with her lots of the time as well. I'd get her something with reasonable safety features.
