Hello all,

I've just used PLUS h/way on my way to Melaka and was quite surprised that the 90kmh limit is back with big signs - and small ones too - posted prominently not long after one passes the Spg Ampat exit.

Everyone knows of cross wind in that area but is such slow speed necessary? Why is it back after a long hiatus? Why now?

I once kena cross wind at the Pasir Gudang Highway, but it was during my biking days...it was impossible to ride above 50km/h! And a van that tired it went to the side of the dirty road...lucky no accident...it was a once in a lifetime (touch wood) experience...respect mother nature. Maybe nowadays egg shape cars are less prone to this, but biker, van, bus and lorries cannot escape if kena.

Have experienced cross wind too long time ago when biking up north. Understandably it is dangerous but what is puzzling is the reason behind the reinstatement. I mean why removed the 90kmh before? Any recent case of accident caused by cross wind there resently?

Yeah, have thot of that too.

But if we are not too harsh on our judgement and can allow for some humor, I think the speed limit was requested by Melaka government when one of its members recently realised - while being chauferred in a speeding Perdana Executive - that one can cover the whole state on PLUS h/w in less than 30min doing 120kmh so got to slow'em down a bit. tongue.gif

your answers may be:

1. already finish convert to 3 lanes. so, time to put back that sign & cover those money back (saman).

2. some fatal accident that area end last year. all terbabas. single vehicle accident. (even last saturday i saw a car luckily hit the middle guard rail and luckily end up on the left side of h/way).
