Perhaps a consolation with the 5AT vs CVT. Slushbox can be rebuilt locally and there are some shops capable of doing it even for the euro marques.

For the CVT, I have never heard of any other service provider other than Honda Malaysia itself.

Heck, you may even be able to potong a manual tranny onto it.....can it....Malaysia boleh? blink.gif blink.gif

Well, if S'pore and Thailand offers manual variants, it would make it easier to source for a unit.

My apology. I confused the CVT Electro-Magnetic clutch with the Torque converter. With this correction, that means the IDSI FC that encountered by yourself or many other owners is pretty much optimum as it is. So assuming that the electro magnetic clutch give the same efficiency as conventional clutch and provide a lesser lost than torque converter, I'm not sure how it works compare to the conventional clutch based engagement because AMT user on similar spec engine and power consistently get much better FC than the IDSI(based on published user on forums) and my own nos. Perhaps someone can illustrate better on how the magnetic clutch work and its efficiency rate. Otherwise IDSI engine with a lower BHP but almost similar torque to the IVTEC (previous City/Jazz) is not as fuel efficient that its led us to believe but nevertheless better than many locally available car. Why I say so because I expect it to better than other AMT or clutch based car.

Actually on highway I tend to get lesser FC because of the speed... rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif wind drag is horrendous above 120. My urban daily drive is very good indeed even plying route like LDP and Sg Besi. Attached is my daily FC. Its not realistic as I have to make other stop go and short trip so my average refill FC is about 16-17km/l. I did have couple of encounter where I was not driving any other route per refill and I got an average close to 20km/l for that refill.

The attached show my daily morning trip at 21.7km/l.. smile.gif

hi all, it is important to Honda Malaysia that the City beats Vios (already Vios leading with total sales of 100,000 units sicne 2003). Hence the upmarket as well as pricing for the new City. it is vital for them - its like live or die for them.

what vios offers simply not on outstanding performance or economical. its a package

its about simplicity, affordable (vios starts at 69K) with a wide range to choose from, reliabilities (vios using similar mechanicals because they are proven - no issues).

in the end, the choices may be hard enough but out there too many prospect buyers wont buy the city just for their higher power output and additional gear ratio. they may enjoy good history with previous Citys (including the earlier SX8 if i am not mistaken). otherwise, they have several other alternatives to choose.
