color : grey
price : rm26k (neg)
mileage : 260k
owner : 2
interior: very clean, slightly got sticker mark on the dashboard
exterior: just paint, got minor stratch mark

question

hi boy30,
ignore the 1st reply here.

i think the car isnt clocking high mileage, it's acceptable for a car of
12years. but not very sure about the price range, maybe u can check it
out with a motor trader mag and the market price should be around 2 or 3
thousand less than the printed/offered price. then u will know roughly
where is it.

about the owners, it's not a serious matter but the condition of the car
is. suggest u test drive the car 1st, what is the capacity of the engine?
if u think it's still silent in the cabin and feels good and tough then
do check out whether the car had been into an accident. if ure not sure
how then get a "mudguard man" to see 4 u.

not sure about the colours, seen silver and red only. worth or not
depends on the condition of the car.

my relative has 1, 1600cc, FC like waja(A).

in my opinion,

it is not that worth buying a 12 yrs old corolla for that price.

lets look for plus points first
- 1.6 enjin, twin cam
- EFI
- 16 valve
- easily upgraded to supercharger or 4 throtle body engine.
- economical
- reliable basic mechanicals
- high spec auto versions got ABS

minus points
- the car is small. more or less like old saga. this in fact the smallest
corolla in over 25 years.
- the car is going to be 13 years old. many things are going to be koyak
sooner or later. absorber, mountings, tbelt, oil leaks, radiator
leak/clogged, gearbox (bear in mind the mileage is 260K)

though corolla brand is lovable, but not the 11th generation (hence the
name AE111).

only buy if can bargain to 20K and you are not interested to sell this
car in the coming 5 years.

why dont go for AE101 instead, and save 10K?

alldisc is right, i prefer AE101. driven one to penang from ipoh with a
constant speed of 160km/h, it impressed me though it was a car which has
clocked more than 700k km. better than my 7 year old waja.

what is the price of a 17 yrs old AE101 now? 20K? no loan? cash only?

if i have 20K to spend i would rather buy BMW E30 3 series. 2.0 straight
six engines, rear wheel drive. strong built quality that lasted even
after 25 years.
