I just had the opportunity to drive two conti new cars in a week

One was the new 3 series 330i and the other yesterday a turbo 2.5

V50. BM cost rm420K and V50 220K. and guess which was a better

car, yup the V50. It was awesome to drive and terribly fast but

very comfortable and controllable but the BMW 330 was bumpy and twitchy

when power was applied and very cramped in the Beemer.

I wonder why people are foolish enough to spend 200K more when you

can get a equally better car for so much less.

Me, I am now dreaming and working towards buying a V50 ,it gets you

hooked on it man.ThumbUp

I guess so. Last time I saw the New S40 owner gonna upgrade to V50. There
is mean this car should be better ever than alot of 3-series or C-class.
I am the one who those really saw 5 units of V50 with Blue Color of
Number plate in Kesas Highway. Either one unit got speeding quite fast &
left behind with 4 units which is enjoyed their life inside the car with
comfortable.

MagicRide,
You should try the S60-T5 coz I feel that the V50 was real slow compared
to my ex 850-T5. Maybe it's the power delivery software in the ECU. BMW is
bumpy because they're using run-flat tyres and being a 3.0 litre NA, it's
quite peaky. Yup BM's are cramped until the 5 series comes along.

Lastly, Bee Emm is a better known marque than Volvos, so people will just
dump the extra $ just to be in the status quo.

............
Volvo maintainance all over the world is expensive.. even in it's home
country.

Actually between the 330i and a V50.. I'd say the 330i is the real driver's
car here.. the V50 draws a decent mix of driver's and passenger comfort..
what I never cared for in the V50/S40 is that centre console that looks as
if it was made by Bang & Olufsson.

SpGuy, the reason for the thread was both cars were
driven and the V50 came up tops in every aspect.
The power in the V50 is more than the S60 T5 which is
only 2 litre compared to the V50 2.5 unless you are referring
to the S60 Turbo which has more than 200+ bhp.

My purpose for this thread is why spend so much more
when you can have even more for so much less.

" My purpose for this thread is why spend so much more

In Malaysia it's all about status and brand. To the majority of men and
women having a BMW or a Merc is a symbol of success. the volvo brand hasn't
quite reached that though Ford is pushing for it. personally I prefer volvo ...

And another thing unlike the people in this forum ... most people don't
really care or not well versed in things as bhp, turbo or not, traction
control, road handling etc. I know someone who didn't even know his
transplant Nissan engine was a twin turbo! What they care is that if feels
good driving it and what people say ...

Just my humble opinion

magic,

I think you've got the S60 2.0T and the S60 T5 mixed up liao!

FYI, the 2.0T is 2.0 LPT with 180bhp whereas the T5 is 2.3 turbo with
250bhp.
