Why do people stil associate Volvo as a brand that has no resale value,
high fc and maintenance ? Why people not placing safety as the utmost
criteria when buying a car ? Wonder...Frown

This is the perception which people have & I pity them for being ignorant.
However, we owners know better. Let them be the "ketak dibawah tempurong"
& leave them where they are. If they do not wish to update themselves,
it's their loss!!!

As mentioned in past post, GAYA is the most important. Here in Malaysia,
Merz get first place. In other countries, Volvo might be doing well.

right! well, we (volvorians) share the same fate with the un'prestigous'
car such as peugeot, citroen, opel, etc. biasalah...our malaysian mindset,
bukan tak tau, demanding a merz, beemer, honda(prestige?.

its okay, since we look at it the bright side, that we have had such a
wonderful car at a wonderful price! okaylah tu...

kalau demand tinggi, harga mahal la pulak...hehehehehBig Smile

Well & good for those who wish to surf around to expand their knowledge.
Those people may eventually end up switching to Volvos but it's
those "stick in the mud" types who refuse to accept anything other than
their brand/make of cars that is the problem. Each individual has his/her
own priorities & based on this, he/she will decide on what make of cars
they want. I can accept that but please don't badmouth other makes just
because you don't like it. Have a good day all!!!Smile

I have first hand experience with ppl around lurking in our Volvo forum to
get infor here and there. They are not Volvo owners at all, just trying to
get hold of one simply because they were told Volvo has no second hand
resale value so, it is a good buy and blah, blah.

They have no hands on experience at all but they know how to kutuk here,
kutuk there all day long. At the end of the day, I just felt like smashing
my 1.8 tonne of kerb weight brick onto his face. Big Smile And see whether his
resale value, cheap maintenance and so called good fc theories would do
anything to save his life or not.

wah, sabar2... i shared the same feelings also... never mind laaa... u all
pakcik2 lagi no hal... 20s teenager like me, with frens driving wira, waja,
civic and all those youngster's car, lagi teruk... sometimes they make
jokes around the car "wah, dah 16 tahun, dah Jubli Emas tuh"... "kotak
laaa", mcm2 laaa... even the analog clock pun jadi issue "ek ele, jam
analog, gile klasik".... the buttons pun jadi argument, the shape, semua
laaa "aku tgk volvo ni sume nak kotak2, nasib baik stereng takleh buat
kotak, kalau tak dah 4 segi dah stereng volvo, bukan bulat".... yeah!! i
admit sumtimes i got angry... even when the satria 1.3 mod ajak me lumba...
i know i cant chase them if they want to race in normal road with traffic
lights here & there... bila ajak lumbe kat highway, hilang dari pandangan!!
! (kdg2 rase nak tergelak je bile those protons ajak lumbe, even a kancil
pun pernah ajak race).... uhuhuhuh... for me they just not mature enogh,
thats all.. so xyahlaa layan sgt, atau emo sgt... as long as we live
happily with the volvo, its up to them to say what they like... TQ..

Forget about the resale value as Volvo cars are value for money. Why pay
more for the likes of Hondas, Toyotas, Protons, etc when we know very
well that Volvos are far ahead of its Japanese competitors. You can see
in some advertisement that a 20-year old hHnda fetched a high price but
just a scrap of junk metal. Volvos are made to last.

Gone were the days when Volvos are for middle aged conservative but
stable individuals. Current models project a more dynamic, and aggressive
looks, not forgetting the safety aspects (though Saab have the edge in
safety)

So that is the image Volvo projects. Those who don't like this image
should stay away from Volvos.
