its not really problematic...
actually to 240,740, 940 users with soch setup and want to get a 16V...
just buy the 16v head and an extra tensioner ;) will hook up to your
current block no problem
been done before and no one complains about reliability.

940's handling is very scary.Really...IT IS VERY SOFT!. The whole car
rolls like crazy at sharper cornerings. You gotta slow down the car at
corners much earlier than other similar sized continental cars.

See the suspension underneath and you'll see how small the shocks and
springs are..especially the spring size. They are almost the same spring
size as a WIra's!. Then go compare with a Merc or BMW springs and shocks.
YOu'll see the difference.

My friend's full Turbo 940 '95 model was fitted with tougher suspension
last year. Way better than the stock suspension...but still not as good as
the Merc or BMW.

Don't mean to say 940 is lousy...the engine and durability is great. Just
that the suspension is not at all.

940 is also a rear wheel drive car. A real pleasure driving one....whole
lot of fun driving this especially one with a turbo.

If possible, have the car checked up at Federal Auto before you buy it.
It will save you a lot of hassle later on.

A friend of mine travels 300km daily in his 940 and now already clocked
nearly 600000km. I think he hasn't overhaul the engine or replace the
transmision. Anybody can beat him?

Don't believe a car can clock more than half a million km without any
overhaul.

i think the 940 is engineered for ride comfort..not for driving
dynamics.so the engineered have to sacrificed on driving fun to give good
ride&comfort.that's why the 940s are favourite choice as company car...

since my dad decided want to get 940..i start my research&study on 940.me
myself fall in love on 940 now.at first i think it's ugly and not a
comfort ride, not fun to drive(no offence..),but since i read on internet
and joining this volvo forum,i really in love.no wonder lah why my dad
want a 940 badly.i start to appreciate the 940 design and other volvos
like 240 & 740.they are boxy...but very classic&elegance.i hope the 940
will be a collector's car in future because my dad will pass it away to
me.haha.

im living with my dad, and im his driver.really hope he will get a 940
turbo version.more fun to drive.the n/a would be sluggish.my own car is
wira with evo3 inside.

I've been driving 940 since 2000 and touch wood no major problem to date.
What i like most about this car is it's durable. What I don't like is the
price...it's 90k in 2000.

It's an excellent car with good comfort but off course talking about
performance etc, 940 easily lost out to 850 etc. Maintenance is also
cheaper compared to FWD.

Go for LPT or Full Turbo. It's more powerful. Mine can easily reach 160kmh
and so far manage to push up to 180kmh without much problem. Can still
keep up with members who drove S60T5 and 850R. Quite Ok considering
average speed for most big cars in our highway is around that only.

Have fun hunting your 940.

Ciao

hi clorox...

ur condition is similar as mine.. i'm also a driver of my dad since he had
been partially paralysed 4 years ago. but his deep interest on volvo never
dies..!

what izallyza wrote was definitely true... i experienced it! 940 is very
reliable one and its features match ur dad's requirements!

previously, i'm also not interested on 940, but since i met my blue
brick, "terus jatuh hati"... boxy yet sexy..! hehehe..

keep on hunting...Big Smile
