I pumped RM70 in 740(A) and she reached Ipoh Garden East, Ipoh all the way
from Johor Bahru without refuelling. Never speeding. Is her consumption
ok ? 110km/h at 2500-2600 rpm with OD on depending on gradient of the
road. Crusing wise is very relaxing and comfortable.

scenic,
Wah, you have very good FC, from JB to IGE only RM70. Should be in the
range of 12 to 14 km/liter. Mine (940) from Lumut to Teluk Intan then
Bidor (jam and banyak potong kereta - WOT), in and out Bandar Rawang Back
to Subang via Serdang, I got only 10 km/liter (Average speed Lumut-Bidor
was 80 km/h and 140 km/h on highway).

760 is the more upmarket of the two and never assembled locally (all
CBU)....equipped with leather (not always), climate control, BOGE Nivomat
self-levelling rear suspension, sunroof, V6 2800cc OR b23 turbo
engines....although all sold here by FA were V6s.
The V6 engine itself is shared with the Renault 25/ Alpine GTA and is an
all alloy unit, prone to head warping, while the Nivomat suspension is
prone to failure...and the interior panels were also not tropicalized,
thus cracks up terribly.
Overall, one of the most troublesome (challenging?) Volvos ever
which explains why so few are left.

Hi Vol940,
But, my city driving almost suffer by half from what I achieved in long
haul run.
I go back to Ipoh two to three times a year.

scenic, if your car has an autobox, the FC in city driving suffers. You
get better FC with a manual in similar situations. This is due to inherent
slipage in the autobox.

scenic,
In city driving, (condition 2 months ago), I got 7 to 8 km/ltr, but
recently down to 6 - 7 km/ltr only. There is something wrong in my 940,
coz on long haul only got 10 km/ltr.
Still looking for the causes, I suspect clogged CC or may be un-
noticeable leakage somewhere before O2 sensor.

I am getting my company car soon. Good and bad news. Looks like I will
have to sell off my 740. No point keeping two cars when I will be driving
only one car. Anyone interested can just let me know privately by sending
an IM to me for more information.
