Friends,
Need some advice. Mine is a V70 T5. The one thing I do not like
about this car is the suspension is so hard. Wife has been complaining
all the time. Is it possible to change the suspension to a softer one.
Does it really help ? Do i have to change the shock absorbers or just the
spring or both ? Has anyone tried it before ? Will I be trading off too
much on the handling ? Please give me some feedback. Thanks.

Regards
Ambi

Ambi...check out www.vvspy.com under their V70 forum...when I was there
last there was some talk of some putting Koni's on the front and Eibachs
on the back for a smoother ride...and if I recall correctly, this also
changes the ride height at the front and rear,so headlamp adjustment was
also needed. You can do a search on the forum so why not try ot out!

the car comes with self leveling nivomat suspension so it tends to be
hard. the current setup is soft spring with hard absorbers(nivomat by
boge/sachs). you might want consider harder springs to raise the vehicle
and softer absorbers - eg. eibachs + hard springs

if you leave the exisitng springs on, the car will sag to the rear

I thought my boss' V70-T5 handles (suspension) better than mine, so it's
the same issue then huh ?

hi guys,

i don't normally post replies but this topic is of interests to me.

i have a 850 t5 and I too complained about the harsh ride. So recently, i
changed both the nivomat shocks and springs to a V70 normal shocks and
springs. I was informed that V70 comes with either normal or nivomat rear
suspension

Results:

1. The ride is slighly better but still harsh. I feel the harshness is
perhaps more due to the standard low profile tyres (205/50) on the car.

2. The rear suspension is rather soft. When the car is loaded with 4 or 5
people, the undercarriage will scrape most bumps. This surprises me the
most as the suspension set up is used on V70 but they have don't have
this problem and yet both cars are wagons and have about the same weight.

I'd like to hear if others have other better experience with other set-
ups.

Thanks.

Interesting topic. I also find the ride on the harsh side but I was warned
on it b4 I bought the car. So anyone has modified the suspension system.
Heard from some one in UK they change it to ohlins.

discusman,

if it is self levelling, that means the rear has never sagged even though
you load up the rear, the you have the nivomat system in place. if it sags
then you have the normal stuff.

but then again, the 855 and the V70 have never been much comfortable in
the rear department. i too have been informed about this before buying.

-----

If anyone were to notice this - the wagon only gives a hard ride on badly
maintained roads and around town (potholes, etc). If you are on the hi'way
going about 110km/h (or more....) it is quite comfortable.

Rock a bye baby ......

Upon checking other forum groups, the wagon is a quite a pain in the butt
(so to speak) but the V is much better that the 850. Like what Kenari1
said, on smooth roads, there are no issues, only on the bumpy ones. I
think it's the setup of the suspension system to give the driver (or car)
better control at high speeds and the T models are tuned for mild-to-heavy
racing.

Discusman,
Yup, my boss' is liver red (without rear spoiler). Mat Salleh with no.
plate PEE xxxx. I think you can see him in town or coastal road sometimes.

fellow 855 T5 or V70 T5 drivers,

i believe 855 and v70 is hard to tame on this department, the only
solution that i gather if we want a softer ride is to change wheels set-
up.say 16/55/205( cheeyam is using one) and its feels softer.i dont know
by changing to other set-up = KONI,TEIN n other suspension set up to our
T5, will make it handles better. even with TITAN.Kayoba had chande his
ori set-up, dont know how it perform, Kayo comments please. one of T5
drivers we meet during Turbo Lim CNY receptions, change his set-up to Hot
Bits = still not satisfied.

So members of T5'S what suspension set-up should we consider?

heard bout this,

Change to thicker swaybay(IPD) handling = very good. anybody?

Cruizin now,

MARLIN
