alfredlee,

I have test driven the S40 2.4 too...felt like it is not as responsive as
Accord 2.4 although Accord is 10 horse power less then S40. The salesman
try to explain to me it was due to the S40 is heavier than Accord and it
has Traction control whereas Accord din't.

Andrew,

whether the car is worth buying compared to a used 2001 C200K or 2003
318i is entirely up to each individual and their own perception of value.

Personally, I would stay away from the C200k because major parts would
require changing because you would be looking at a car with 100,000 plus
mileage.

The E46 is looking very dated these days.

To me 190k for a well built car with decent handling and performance and
a 3 year warranty would sound like a much better option. I also believe
volvo's image in Malaysia has become considerably better these days too!

went to SM again today, with my wife, just for her to have a look on it..

I told the SA that I wanted to have a 2nd time test drive, this time I
would want to test drive kau kau since I knew where is the weak point
that I'm not sactisfied. I hope I can lower down my expectation, and
hopefully the perfomance & handling can meet my new level of expectation..

Today I have accepted that CKD has no sunroof, keyless, childseat...I do
feel better and acceptable now compared to my first view on the S40..

If, I can accept the perfomance & handling..the next thing for me to
decide, is the colour choice..

How come no Ice White, no grey colour...most likely will go for either
safari green or black.

alfredlee,

in terms of performance, should be much better that E90 320i or C200k, i
personally like the ice white colour too....but too bad....did you ask
SM, whether u can opt for keyless entry or bi xenon? any discount for the
car price?

andrewlim8,

I'm sure that the S40 is more powerful than the C200K and C200k is never
an option for me so far because I don't like the Kompressor engine, it is
too noisy also the Kompressor engine is quite kacau...

But if compare to E90 320i, I don't think S40 can beat it.. in terms of
resposive in performance, the E46 318 1.9 already doing better than the
S40 2.4i..

About the discount, I was quite surprise that Volvo don't give any
discount on pricing, they are selling at the price that they price it.
They are quite transparent on the pricing and promotion, so that they
make sure every customer got the same price and this will eventually
support the 2nd hand value.

The current 2 years interest free plan seems quite attractive now, and
hopefully this is true and if Volvo Malaysia do hold the price firm then
I'll have more confidence on it's 2nd hand value in the future.

Andrew,

I sent Volvo Malaysia an email on the Xenon lights upgrade, but
unfortunately, they said it is not available in Malaysia as `several wiring
harnesses have to be replaced`. So unless you go for aftermarket kits, we
are stuck with the stock lights.

Alfred,

Hmmm, i have to disagree with you on the performance comparison with the
E90 320. Subjectively, I feel the S40 is a better performer. Remember, its
a 5-cylinder engine versus a 4. But I could be wrong however.

But you are right. With the 2 years interest free plan now, it really is
quite a good deal to get a Volvo now.

PS By the way, does anyone know how to get the CD-Text thing to work??

Although 320 is not a bad machine, trust me, I have ta-paued a few of them on the road with my
S40. Anyway, car itself is not dangerous, it is the driver.
