Engine temperature & FC for 850 T5

Want to check with u guys on the abv.
Mine : Engine temperature below half needle if speed below 100km/h or
idling on higher speed (say up to 150km/h). Then it will touch half or
slightly abv. What's the actual spec like. Someone told me it shud always
be below. But interestingly, another person said it shud always be in the
middle. Me getting worried coz hv radiator leak unnoticed for long time
(my earlier for on top overhaul).
Fuel consumption in town (pi mai pi mai ofis - from kinrara to klcc)
- if smooth driving abt 15 - 16 sen/litre
- if jam banyak abt 19 - 20 sen/litre
- highway - 10 sen kut..(but always find difficulties to stay in speed
limit, so driving average abt 140 - 150, so doing abt 13 - 14 sen/litre).

FC slightly less that yours but slightly only.

Do take care about your coolant. I was told that the head can easily warp
if the engine overheats as a result of loss of coolant. Changed my
overflow bottle last month as I discovered a crack in it. Cost RM165-00.

travelling for some time. Has gone back to Penang and Malacca but so far
no issue. Better check it out this weekend. Cap, where u changed your
overflow bottle? I think I want to try out Vol-Mal off Chan Sow Lin.

My overflow bottle was changed in Ipoh. I don't know how much it cost in
KL & I've not checked with Vol-Mal but please don't quote me.
Sent my GLT to them about a week before CNY & came away with a bill of
about RM1k. Overhualed the steering system & changed some parts as there
was an oil leak. Rubber bushes on the anti-roll bar was out of stock. So,
will change them at next service.

been at a sliver above the half-mark...regardlwss of driving style or
consdition...FC now at 13 ltr/100km - mixed driving...kalau long distance..
. 10-11 ltr/100km ...how does that compare to other T5 I wonder..

me also went to Vol-Mal to check my radiator before but i later went to
Volcar which is actually nearby (near Auto Bavaria). For me both are okay,
but Volcar is cheaper, i think. Both quite experience (Vol-Mal ex-FA) and
(Volcar-more than 10 yrs business in Volvo).
Looking to others' note, I worry my car may not be in better cooling
system, so shud look into beefing this area up. Isn't the lower the temp
is better (coz some body confused me that temp must stay around half, i
thought temp shud be as lower as possibly can for better
performance/durability).
Possibilities:
1. My atf intercooler has actually been modified by turbolim (if not
mistaken). Assuming that is right, can i use that part of radiator to cool
the coolant.
2. Can we add another intercooler to work on high speed but not bypassing
the existing radiator oil coolant like what turbolim did to my atf cooler,
but instead tie-in the intercooler. So on slow traffic the radiator oil
cooler will work but when high speed the intercooler will help some more.
3. Having said that, can the atf and coolant be done the same.

The engines are designed to work best at a certain temperature range. Too
hot or too cold & the engine will not give optimum performance. To keep it
with the temperature range, a thermostat is used to regulate the
temperature.
If you find your temperature is too high compared with the other T5s, you
can consider having the radiator flushed. BTW, when did you last flush the
system? If you've not flushed it for some time, maybe, now is the time.

air-cond system. I have it and maybe this puts the temp needle below the
halfway mark ?
CheeYam's car has been bypassed, so the higher temp ? This is an
assumption only, maybe more T-Five owners can give a better idea with all
the available inputs ?
