sorry to reinvoke this old topic...it just one pelik punya hal..

see..my speedometer dah buat hal. most of the times since the last 48
hours the needle not moving anymore..nak kena tukau le. What is funny is
that my temperature gauge...the needle la..show very low...at most only a
quarter and most of the time much lower. Why like that one? Do both
needles, the temp and speedo hv some links ke? Appreciate advise...

BTW, nak repair speedo and, also both mileage and trip counter, kena bukak
dashboard abis ka? If like that one, might as well service aircon dlm
sekali. How much this all will be? Ada juta - juta kaaa?

Hi sillycar,

I had the same problem earlier this year (Feb). Both the speedometer and
the tripmeter were not functioning.

Mechanic told me the ABS modulator sudah kong. Rebuilt one costed me
RM1,250! I didn't know about VOCM yet, else I would have PosLaju-ed the
ABS to glock19 and begged for his help.

Otherwise, i read somewhere that there is also a possibility that one of
the two small "gear-wheels" in the console is broken, or even both. If it
involves removing the console (a high-risk issue), be sure to send the car
to a really abled mechanic or technician. Or you'll end up more frustrated
with the noises. :)

Oh, in any case, my Fuel Consumption is as follows:-

1) on highway back to Kuantan from KL (using the Lebuhraya Pantai Timur),
I used as low as 10.7Litres for every 100 Kilometres toured. Of course,
with the AutoCruise on. I reset the calculations everytime I fill in a
full-tank.

2) on strict city-driving in KL, I've clocked in close to 20Litres for
every 100 Kilometres toured.

3) on mixed city- and highway-driving (KL Elevated Highway), it's normally
between 14.3Litres to 16.9Litres. Of course, due to the relative shortness
of the KL Elevated Highway, AutoCruise not useable.

Better check first.

Does any of the GURUs or TSEFUs have any advise?

Good luck, man.

Ampangbear,
Thanks for the recommendations. I guess I need it now to help settle the
bill for the cross-drill & slotted disc rotors which are on their way :D
How many forums are you listed ? I saw you in VolvoT5, Volvo-Forum, VOCM,
now here and I think there are another five other forums somewhere
Big Smile

Sillycar,
Try to use a long cable tie and tie up the connector at the ABS module and
see if the speedometer works. This is a TSB from Volvo which Suhairi
showed us when he was in Penang. If not, try to get the plastic gears and
if still cannot, then send the ABS unit over. If you need the instructions
on how to dismantle the ABS, let me know and I'll explain it step-by-step.
