izallyza,
Cap48 and glock19 are right. I also got the same thing.
Just go under dashboard at pax. side. Open the under cover, you will see
at the corner a black plastic with 3 screws on it, one visible and other
two hidden. That is the blower motor cover. Loosen all screw, starting
from screw close to the side wall then front side, the last is the
visible screw. Disconnected the power socket, then pull down.
Be careful when you pull down the blower motor, very dirty and sticky,
grey black color dirt. The damping material is located on top of the
plastic fan, ... just look at the hole. I removed the broken damper
material (balck sponge which was originally brown yellowish) but no
replacement ha..ha..ha.
Good Luck ......

Great...
vol940,
Correct me if I'm wrong. We took it out just to clean the blower motor
right? The sponge? are we replacing or just leave it like that? Any side
effect without the sponge?
Sorry lar asking you so much, it's about time I DIY some of those so
called simple job.
Ciao

This one not so related.. but just to share my experience on my 940
refrigant..
Recently changed the refrigant to a 'non-Volvo' refrigant, but this unit
does not have refrigerant sensor socket to connect. The aircon man just
short the sensor cable. The aircon is cool. But have to do manual switch-
on & off the 'A/c Off' button every 30min of car traveling to avoid the
refrigant become 'freezing'. Have to live with this until next aircon
service. Lesson learnt - should use original refrigant for this.

izallyza,
Yup, you clean the blower motor and the surrounding space where the
blower motor is located. Use lamp and mirror to see broken sponge inside
the space (hole), if not you can not see anything, unless your eyes got
infrared capability ... kekekeke.
Wipe all those dirts with humid cloth, sure that your hand shall enter to
the hole.
Effects ?. No side effects on car, but effect to the driver and
passangers since they breath the unfiltered air (unnoticable dirty air -
same as ambient conditions where we live). The only filter is our nose
hair .... heehee... Almighty of Allah.

cheongmei,
Bro... I do not really understand when you said
"Recently changed the refrigant to a 'non-Volvo' refrigant".
I work also on refrigerant field but used for Fire Fighting. After the
ban of R-12 (refrigerant on old vehicles), this replaced by new
refrigerant i.e. R-134a. So many giant company produce this refrigerant,
DuPont, Honeywell, Greatlakes, ICI, Isceon and so on and so on. So there
is no Volvo or Non Volvo Refrigerant.
It seems that your pressostat is not working, so the water vapor around
the dryer will freez (not the refrigerant), coz refrigerant (134a) on
your car will freez at -92.5 deg.C. The working pressure of 134a is 20
psi to 30 psi. When pressure greater than 30 psi, the a/c won't be cold,
below 20 psi riks to freez (water vapor) damaging the a/c system devices,
sure that your a/c is very cold.

Good tips on self servicing.
ANy one know if this approach on 940 also work on 850? I'm thinking of
replacing my blower motor.
