Hi,

I'm letting go my S40 2.0T. Initial plan was to get new S40 2.4. Went to
FA to check it out..., really like it, but seems a little bit small for my
two cowboys, maid, plus my wife. Cannot afford V50 T5.

Now looking for a little bit bigger space, like Accord 2.4 or Peugeot 407.
(no offence but I think Camry is too Ah Pek style..)

In terms of comfort and handling, 407 is better, but Accord is more
powerful (cannot match my current S40 though), and after sales is better
than 407.

So should I go for 407 of Accord...?

if you plan for a larger rear space/boot space in the car...then accord is
the way to go...

also the 2.4 would be more accelerative....with the 5sp gearbox...

other things like handling/stylish interior/ext, 8airbags/ etc then 407....

in what way aftersales better for the honda? just wondering?

Accord would be the choice but it's less dramatic and lack of character.
Everyone lane has one.

as I posted on the honda forum, a second hand 2.4L accord (current design)
can be had for 135k.... that's not exactly fanstastic second hand value
issit? ditto to the current camry 2.4L too... probably worse when the new
2007 camry comes out early next year...

keccex,

did you really compare the interior head and leg room of both car (S40
2.4 and 407)? i found out that both car are almost the same, but the
overall length, 407 is much longer. if you really want a spacious car,
then go for Accord.

friend of mine after test driven S40, intended to sell off his Accord 2.4
and buy S40, what will you think?Smile

silver63... you forgot to compare the interior width as well...

the 407 is wider and more airy cabin... from the driver seat... it's had to
reach over to the passanger side door handle (to demonstrate that it's
wider) whereas the S40, you could do it easily... don't forget that it's
just a mazda 3 class sized car... albeit higher class...

also, in the new S40 and even the new Audi A4 (which I was toying the idea
to buy as well) you left leg is constantly rubbing against the centre
tunnel.. cos lack of leg space (widthwise)

alas when the legendary volvo depreciation (on par with citreon) kicks in..

arist188,

you are right, i forgot to compare the width......but the interior width
of 407 is only 41mm(4cm) wider than S40 even Accord is only 5cm wider, do
you think it is very significant?

buyer will normally compare the head and leg room, and seldom compare the
width.

407 only comes with single disc player, which i think is abit outdated...

hello? you can add the CD changer lar... with the savings of 20k difference
between the S40....go to the SC and ask them to bring it in lor..

anyway, how can a single disc player be outdated? (obviously your thinking
is outdated)
Cos even the top of range McIntosh competition pro grade car CD-player is
also single disc.... (which by the way is made by clarion which also makes
peugeot's cd players)
