I'm planning to get a tracking system for my car but can't decide on
which one to get. I would really appreciate it if anyone can give me some
advice on their experiences.

The few types that seem good are:
1) Captor
I believe they have Captor-RF and Captor-GPS. The GPS one seem very good
but is rather expensive and is relatively new, not sure how reliable it
is. I've also read bad reviews on the RF one? any advice?

2) AAM Smart Tracker
Seems like a good GPS system but I haven't seen many people talk about it
and they don't show their recovery rate or any news articls on recovery
in their website

3) GPS Tech V-Guard
Looks like a good GPS tracking system but their website has not been
updated since 2006 so I'm not sure how well the company is doing

1. Captor with GPS - expensive, around RM4K without SMS subscription yet.
RF version cannot track down to the road level.

2. Smart Tracker - still new, duno if they have good recovery team.

3. V-Guard - Cheapest true GPS + GSM you can buy. Bad thing is web
tracking is not truly realtime and map is not up to date. Otherwise it is
fully functional yet value for money.

You need to find out:
1. Annual subscription fee for GPS. GPS signal is not very strong, RF/GSM
is a must.
2. Monthly subscription fee for GSM and coverage.
3. Hidden cost - installation, backup battery replacement.
4. Owner application - to track your vehicle yourself + historical data.
5. Owner control - to immobilize your vehicle.

My friend in Johor installed from www.cartrack.com.sg because it is much
cheaper and can track both Malaysia and Singapore. He reasoned that a lot
of cars stolen in Malaysia actually ended up in Singapore carparks and
warehouse first before being exported. They also managed to recover his
friend's car that was stolen in Johor. Pity Singapore is too far away for
me. Just have to pray my 2 steering wheel will deter the car thieves.

Captor GPS version only cost RM2500. The RM4k one is GSM/GPS/RF, it will
switch to RF if GSM signal is low. Correct me if I'm wrong.

i think beside tracking the vehicle movement and detering or reducing theft.
another important thing is the recovery team effeciencies..

do all these has their own recovery team and how well do them connect to
the authority if a car with any of this system is stolen..? will the police
cooperate and give a chase to track down a.s.a.p & effeciently?

i also eager to kno which is the better one..
plan to get one for my own car as well..
:)

Hi Kvkk,

Thanks and i heard alot of this i-mob and have a question. Do you all only install on C&C cars like Benz only ? What about other car makes like Toyota and Honda ? Do you support those ? What about the cars waranty being voided ?

Thanks,
Johnny
