Hello, I just need to check with all you guys. Im driving an auto car. I
was thinking of buying this type of lock (e.g autolock / solex brake
lock) When we install the lock to the brake pedal, do we actually lock
the pedal in the depressed position or just install it in its neutral

I was thinking that if we lock the brake pedal at its neutral position, a
thief can still drive the car away (start engine, put in gear into Drive
and the car will be moving slowly = no need brakes).

I was already about to purchase an autolock at Carrefour when I told the
salesman about what I thought. He actually agreed with me! In the end I
didnt buy the lock. Pls advice.

You try to reverse and drive without pressing brakes in an empty carpark. Virtually impossible.
Anyway, bought one for RM110.00 Pleased with it. Only concern, might scratch the brake pedals
(metal part). If you lock the pedal in depressed position, yes, the thief will not be able to steal the
car cos' the brake lamp will drain your battery that he cannot start the car. But then, neither can

Yeah john.... i never thought of that. the brake lights will definately
light on if the pedal is depressed even when the engine is off.

But if the pedal is not depressed, then it will not be that hard to move
the car. An auto with gear engaged in "Drive" moves very slowly. U can
just play with the gear. Haha... i know because sumtimes i do it myself
when I reverse my car to get out of parking.

Hmm... maybe I should just get a gear lock fixed. At least I wont go
crazy thinking bout it...

I brought AM999 from solex's online retailer...shipped from penang.
It locks only the brake, it's small and light (compared to stoplock).
I did 'accidentally' reverse my car with the lock still in place, man it
was scary ! lucky i pulled the handbrake and disengaged the gear in time.
However I'm not sure how effective it is against car thief. When locked,
i think the lock still can move a little bit, not like dead bolt, dunno
whether can move it to an angle that it is not effective, like what ppl
commented about autolock. and ya, the lock will scratch at the locking
area, have not checked the brake pedal whether got scratch or not.

anyway, it's just an additional lock for me, on top of the OEM gear lock.

Am interested in this lock. Does it come with a solex sticker to stick at
your car window and how much does it cost online? Thanks.
