Hi All Sifus,

Just wonder any difference between the petrol & diesel car? What is the
good engine oil for Citroen ZX diesel car? I heard Caltex got one won
many award (cant remember the name), is that correct? Can diesel car use
full synsthetic oil like Mobile1?;

engine oil for diesel and gasoline/petrol are different! some spec might b
able to mix and mostly not! so plse read carefully on the spec as well as
the oil spec on its label! do not make a mistake or else u 'll suffer in
the long run....even for MOBIL 1 there 's a specific oil for the diesel
engine called MOBIL DELVAC 1...its a fully synthethic diesel engine oil
for diesel engines! do not use normal MOBIL 1 as its designed specifically
for gasoline engines....

Most engine oil CAN be used in gasoline and diesel engine. Even the Mobil-1
has the following spec:

Mobil 1 0W-40 meets or exceeds the following industry specifications:
API SM,SL,SJ,EC,CF

In this case, it has the appropriate API "S" rating and in this case, SM,
SL, SJ etc for gasoline engine. Likewise, it has the API "C" rating CF for
diesel engine.

But of course if your diesel engine calles for the higher CG or CH or CI
rating, then this Mobil-1 will not do the job.

Delo 400 is SL rated. So this suggest it is safe to use on most gasoline
engine.
This is a mixed-fleet oil. Can I say it is very adaptive to all kind of
temperature ?

I filled my Modenas Kriss crankcase with Delo 400 15W-40 too.

My diesel Fighter is filled with Delo 400 15W-40 since it was acquired 4
years ago.

I filled my sister's Proton Waja with Delo 400 15W-40 after it was found
low on engine oil, because I was not keen to rush to a shop just to buy 1-
2 litres of engine oil.

All vehicles performed flawlessly Big Smile

can try DUCKHAMS DIESELGARD 15W/40 API CH-4, this would be the premium
lubricant for diesel engine. And DUCKHAMS has over 100 years experience
in lubricant industry.

If you are trying to use fully synthetic oil like MOBIL 1 OR BP VISCO 7k,
that is too wasteful as you just need to pay RM39.50 for a tin of 5L DK
DieselGard instead of paying RM 165 for MOBIL 1 or RM99 for VISCO 7k.

I think the main thing to ensure the engine reliability is a regular oil
and filter change. Even the best oil in the world won't do any good if
you don't have a good maintenance schedule...Big Smile

i agree with xantiaBFY....

currently the highest grade is the CI4 but without proper and schedule
preventive maintenance, even the best oil would be a waste of money...
diesel engines are more sensitive and requires more attention as compared
to the petrol ones.... a blocked air filter simply can cause FC to
increase and black smoke.... a blocked injector can cause loss of
power.... and also please do remember that the diesel fuel in malaysia
still contains very high sulphur content.... so it is recommended to
strictly use diesel formulated engine oils as they have higher TBN as
compared to the petrol engine oils....

cheers....
