hi there,

i wonder is there a comprehensive statistics/survey done on car theft...

i remember somebody provided statistics about which car make has the
highest theft, but what about other info, like for example

- method of theft
- brand/type/cost of alarm system installed
- location (ie. car park building, along the street, etc.)
- age of vehicle

ok, reason i'm asking is that i want to know does it really make a huge
difference if i install a high-end sophisticated system (price > rm 1000)
or i install those mid-range price system (aka between rm400 to rm600) or
i just stick to stock...

i've just been to a car accessory shop enquiring about a system for my
new avanza.

hard to decide...

any ideas/suggestion/info?

hi fooyc,

it seems that in this forum, you are the sifu and in high demand... Big Smile

ok, if my budget is around rm500 per car, what would you suggest?
currently have 2 cars.

1) stock Honda City iDsi
- comes with honda's immobilizer and alarm which i think is from cobra

2) stock Toyota Avanza
- comes with toyota's immobilizer built into the key and a basic alarm

really appreciate your opinion here.

thanks & regards

JC, I'm a nobody in this forum. Just love to help out to those who needs
me.

For your case, I suggest a hood lock. Refer www.caralarm.com.my for more
information. Btw, like I say, I don't represent any shop/dealer or
distributor.

Hi Jaycee,

You can get an idea of the rampant activity of car thefts here

"1 car stolen every 2 hours"

Read it here
