cyang81,

To be real honest, I don't have a very good answer for foolproof method
to stop car being stolen, all the suggestions are to recommend Branded
preventive gadgets in the market which in some way helps to minimize car
thefts with the feature/fuctions that help owners to trace or stop(temp)
car being driven away, as for Tow Truck, I am not sure, in shopping
complex basement, may b, it is safer cos got security gaurd on rounding
(as the owner of the complex want a good reputation on "safety" for
visitors to do shopping at ease in a safe enviroment) but for Condos and
Apartments, I ain't sure. Parking outside the hse, well, it could be
towed or driven away without anyone noticing.
For Captor, I think they have this "CMS System" which the centre will
inform the owner that ur car is being intruded/stolen and may b also
inform u location of ur car(My Friend Waja was safe cos of this Captor)
but he spend lots of money(to the law) to get his car back with all his
accessories missing, long story, better not scare u.
For Captor I am not too sure on the installation, I think so it an
additional device control by some provider and U NEED to pay
monthly/yearly fees to maintain the service.
No harm asking around for the best by don't expect of anything that is
foolproof. All these gadgets helps to prevent but no garantee, remember
this.
Don't hesitate to ask if in doubt, cos letting u know is part of adding
unfound valuable knowledge to myself too Big SmileWink.

Hi Tony,

I agree with you.
No security device can gurantee.
It all up to us to decide.
Even captor also dont gurantee you 100% recover of your car.

I called Captor yesterday evening.
Captor come with additional device / system.
It will not touch/link to your current stock alarm.
We have to pay yearly fees of RM150.
Back up Battery change every 2 yrs - RM 80-100
365 days, 24 hrs, 7 days = call center.

Hasher, I will get my new car soon - Matrix 1.6.
Now in the mist of getting all the information of alarm system.

CobraConnex is good. But too expensive...
If I drive BMW/Merc then no harm to try this CobraConnex.

cyang81,

What's your budget to spend on alarm system? if u thought of something
cheap, keep the alarm that come with the car will do, cos those consider
to be a good with extra feature can cost up to 2K plus.

cyang81,

Hi friend, B real sure of the replacement, sometimes U know Before and
after sales are different stories, has any of ur friends have heard or
also having the same system where the insurance will replace back the
Captor, but any way, what`s the point, the car "stolen"
And U ask about Immobilizer in the other post, I am using Cheetah, even
with it and (touchwood ur car get hijacked) don`t stay around to wait for
the hijacker to come back for the card(MY car salesman friend encounter
this and nearly got chopped)U run ur wait to hide. True not joking.Tongue

There are two types, one with the card and the other with code numbers.
Price, sorry I forgot, installed long time ago. Can check for U.

Still curious why people still go for Captor when car thieves now know
where Captor hid the device. These devices are installed by 3rd parties
and words spread fast. Using RF technolgy, the best they can tell you is
your car is somewhere in KL. Like this, how to find your car before car
thieves disable the device? And it will not work in small towns where
their RF signal cannot reach. I think VGuard is a better alternative, but
a bit expensive though.

As for Immobiliser, better be careful. If you get car jack on a highway,
there is no where for you to run and hide. You cannot imagine what crazy
and pissed off car thieves can do to you if the car they just stole got
immobilised. Scary!

For All,
For Immobilizer card, U still can drop Ur card or wallet, N let the car
go for long enough for U to get away, if U installed IES GSM system, U
can take a bit of time to call to stop Ur car when U think U are at a
safe distance, see the benefit of GSM System. Not only that, Possiblity
to find location of Ur car, have better signal than RF. Think of it.
