GSM sim now. But the pricing is still rather high (RM1k+). DIY cheaper.

Infact, it would work better than Captor or any GPS trackers because GPS
works in line-of-sight. Once the vehicle is underground, GPS is no longer
effective. However with GSM, it still works :)
Question: Does the Friend-Finder service tell you exactly where the GSM SIM
is or does it only give a general area?

many ssangyong owners are rich people, a new stavic and rexton cost
almost 200K but one of the reasons they bought it is because peace of
theft demand is very very low indeed.
somehow, the original idea is very interesting. but do we always need the
phone switch on? what about if the battery runs flat??

Brilliant idea. you should have got yr idea trade marked..
I'm using my current Cheetah immolizer for 6 yrs and its kind of
troublesome coz u gotta keep the sensor card in yr wallet. Jockey park,
workshop repairing or letting my wife drives the car is very troblesome
coz they need to have the card..
Few years back i was robbed n driven by the robbers in my car. The
immo saves my car after they dumped me somewhere n they dumped the car
after it got immobilized and i found the car..
But.....i was lucky coz my wallet is still in the car when the car
engine is about to cut off..the beeper sounded n the robbers were
panic.they hit my face repeatedly asking me what's that sound..I found the
card in my wallet after a few search n managed to find it and scanned it
on the sensor to disarmed it..How if i didnt manage to find the card coz
the situation is so dark and my head was pushed down n i can't see a
thing..They might have got panic n beat me repeatedly or stab me to
death.. and once the engine got cut off..they might have got mad and
imagine what they will do to me by then..
Immo got it's pros and cons..i'm selling off my car now n i'm not
gonna uninstall it n install it again on my next car..If the robbers want
it just take it as insurance got it covered..
Robbers used to steal cars easily but now with so many security gadgets
they switched to other methods like kidnapping us together with the car
and usually got beaten, robbed or raped..why waste money at the same time
got ourselves in danger...JUST LET THEM HAVE THE CAR... it's our life that

1) Top up Digi prepaid RM100 and get 365 days validity. Then sell off or
transfer out the airtime credit to other digi numbers via TalkTime Transfer.
2) Hotlink prepaid can go 365 days too. please check with your telco.
3) If you don`t have second hand phone for this project, I would recommend
you to buy the brand new Nokia 1200 ( <RM100 ). The standby time (ori
battery) for this phone is very Looong.
4) There are some phone model that you can set the call receiving to auto
answer. Use this phone if you wish to eavesdrop conversations in the car.
5) Remember to set the phone to silent mode before hiding it in the car.
6) There was one occasion I can`t find my car in KLCC basement parking.
This method help me to ascertain the availability of my car still in KLCC
though can`t really pin point the exact parking bay of my car. But it is
good enough to ease my panic. GPS can pin point the location of the car but
it can`t work in the basement floor.
Last but not least, I hope my little not so brilliant idea can be of help
to reduce crime and save life for all of you.

withstand the heat coz it'll be there for 4-5days b4 the next
recharge..if it's in basement or night time then no prob..once a while we
might park in for the whole day under hot sun

Yup your idea is good but still comes back to a point that GSM cannot
pinpoint the exact location of it. I have try it on my friends. Unless you
know the person well then you can guess he/she is around that place if not
then it is not an easy task to find it.
Maybe some one can develop his own gps with a low price like GSM.
I would like to know and count me in as well
