2 scenarios to what "might" happen to your car: -

1. Thieves break in and steal your accesories
2. Thieves break in and drive your car away

For Scenario 2, I think a tracking device with a "command center" will
help because they have the infrastructures and communications established.
So, you don't have to retrieve your car by yourself.

For Scenario 1, a 2-way alarm will be more than sufficient as it gives you
immediate response.

Self made also can. Jump the fuel pump wire with a switch then hide the
switch somewhere reachable but difficult to find. The thief can steal your
car. But only can reach 10-50M before the engine dies off. But can't
prevent the car tol by truck.

I think spend most of your money adding good alarm, plenty of locks,
gigantic siren is just matter of delaying the thieves. Look for
tracking/recovery device is the best solution/technology right now. Few
