Was in Carrefour just now. The promoter was selling the Original Autolock
at RM 99 with 2 years warantty from the local company. He claims its made
in Taiwan and his company actually supplies it to US, but as the US
company has gone into finiancial problems, they have decided to sell the
stock locally. Offer until 14/1/2005
Those of you who have been using the Autolock, how do you find it? Worth
to buy?
I drive a Kenari and already have a T shaped steering lock and also a
inverted T shape Pedal lock (bought from Carrefour too). Is it worth it
to ditch my present locks and get this so called proven autolock??

heheh went to carefour too today. same story told by the promoter. the
packaging looks exactly like the one sold in Braders at RM88.. so i really
doubt the authenticity of the product.. but the one in carefour looks like
it has better built, plus 2 yr manufacturer defect warranty by
www.megacell.com.my.. if it`s genuine then it`s a good buy.. but in the
end i bought the cheaper
type-r lock instead

i bought the original one back in 2003 at Smart shop for RM248. Haven't
see the one in carrefour so can't comment abt it yet..but it is really
good...coz it locked ur pedal(brake or clutch)...rather than your steering
wheel...
cheers...

Youngman2,
I bought the Autolock....it is a good car lock as it locks the car
pedals. But the problem is that it is a bit leceh to fix as it is heavy.
Another thing is that it is sometimes difficult to unlock at night as the
key hole is a bit small. You would tend to fumble when you unlock at night
as it is way down below where the car lights cannot reach.
Probably a good deterrant for car thieves....

guys,
Just a lil updates on the difference between the carrefour autolock with
the one sold by smart shop previously.
The one sold by smartshop is autolock pro but the one sold by carrefour is
just autolock. Difference in terms of strength is that autolock pro has a
bulletproof lock. The other difference based on visual inspection is that
autolock pro key hole is mounted in parallel with the main unit, where
else in the basic autolock, it`s key hole is mounted perpendicular to the
main unit. Apart from this the key shape is different too.
As far as convenient is concerned i prefer the autolock pro. Apart from
increase rigidity, the key hole mountings is easily accessible even in the
dark.
Cheers...

p/s: the original autolock is made by Lawman Armor Corp. USA..check out
the official homepage at www.autolock.com for more details

The advertisement shows the autolock locks at the brake pedal where you
need to depress the brake in order to shift out of P. But most of our cars
here (Proton, Perodua, Honda, etc) can shift out of P without pressing the
brake pedal. So it doesn't really work in all cars. Only those manual ones
(you lock it a the cluth pedal) and some continental cars, like Merc, BMW,
or Nissan Sentra. But RM 99 for an Autolock is very cheap rather than
those rip-offs at Smartshop. But what's the catch?
