The sorento injectors has 2 parts. You can replace the complete set or
part of it. Once complete set of injectors is about RM1.4 - 1.6K each, so
you need to get 4 of them. Alternatively you just replace the nozzle part
of the injectors which cost about RM700.
I suspect it is due to the corrosion from the diesel. Some people say it
is due to a certain "company" diesel which is dirty.
Had this repair about 6 months ago and it was NOT done at an authorised
service centre. Now it is running fine.

Corrosion? Doesn't make sense because diesel fuel that reaches the injector
already had their water removed by water separator. And metal can't rust in
diesel fuel.
btw, does anybody know whether Rexton diesel uses commonrail? If yes, any
problem reported?

As what I understand, it only bring problem to those diesel engine using
Common direct injection technology...
And for BMW, may be they got good fuel filter technology, hence, can
minimise the problem.
I remember the BMW SA mentioned that their 5 series need to service only
at 25K interval. This is due to they got good technology in the fule
filter system.
I am not sure for diesel case...

the corrosion is caused by sulphur rather than water. this was what I was
told by my korean buddies.
The RExton is using commonrail, same as the E270 CDi.

Over time, sulfur detiorates the valves. You don't see the effect so
soon. It takes a couple of years and lots of kilometres.
Fitting a water trap has nothing to do with the sulfur issue we have with
our low-quality diesel fuel. It does what its suppose to do - trap water.
I'm not sure if the current Sorrento is Euro 4 compliant. It continues to
use the previous 136 bhp common-rail engine, and not the new 168 bhp unit
that is now available in Europe and other Euro 4 countries.
I'm surprised that the diesel fuel filters you've all talked about cost
so much. I don't remember paying so much for mine. 30,000km changes are
the norm, but that's alright for the performance and fuel economy of a
good European diesel engine.
I too drive a European common-rail diesel engine, a 1.9 dCi. So far I
haven't got issues with the high sulfur content in Malaysian fuel. I'm in
Singapore half the time and I suppose the Euro 4 diesel fuel there helps
with this.
I'd like to do a dyno-test someday to see if I've suffered any
performance loss - so far it doesn't feel like it - 150 bhp / 350 Nm. I'm
still able to do 210 km/h, and give BMWs a scare. And that's with an
automatic transmission too, and cover 1000 kms with just 60 litres.
I'll be getting a 2.0 dCi with 180 bhp at the end of the year
(hopefully). That should raise the pulse rate a little more.
Diesel power - for the real world!

Malaysia. mine is a fiat 1.9JTD i am impress that u get 150hp with
350Nm from that engine. u did ecu remapping?
mind to share?
