No noticeable effect bro except diesel fume smells sweeter.
Mileage currently at 86k km. Just did my oil service today. As a precautionary maintenance, changed my fuel filter too. Car is running fantastic with DTUK (Diesel Tuning UK). Currently on Map 3+20% & hp is circa 200hp with torque in excess of 420nm (figures dyno'ed).
Things I do to upkeep the car's engine;
1) monthly add Blue Coral into fuel tank (from Ace Hardware @ RM23)
2) Oil change interval do not exceed 8000 km
3) Best oil tried is revenol (RM57 per litre). Diesel clatter lesser at idle
4) Change fuel filter every 30000 km (this round slightly earlier since change is due at 90000 km)
5) Use only Caltex & now tried Petron (friends from O&G claims that Petron has lesser sulfur content)
Apart from the above, normal wear & tear except for rear tires. They don't seem to pass 25k km with 420nm of torque. When I set my DTUK to Map 3 + 30%, torque will be in excess of 450nm & you will notice your fuel needle will begin to move....lol!!!
FC is consistently above 600km for heavy city traffic (work around KLCC). Can say 90% of the time stuck in jams. Highway drive mileage returns 800km with speeds of 2XXkmh. Both mileage for a tank of 55-58L diesel & I have a heavy right foot
So if you are considering to move to diesel, do so. The only drawback I notice after driving a diesel car for 3 years is the engine clatter & that is only audible at idle. Once your car starts moving, the clatter is no longer audible. Plus point, TORQUE & great FC. Will be moving to an F30 soon & I am sure it will be a diesel model too. The torque is just too additive!!!

Hi,
originally book a forester 2.0XT. Cancelled and now look at some X1 2.0D. They seems to be cheap for those 2010 model. Still no firm decision yet.

Dyno'ed sample from a 320d with Dtuk. Njoy!
(Red curve on d left is for hp without dtuk. Red curve on d right is hp with dtuk. Blue curve on d left is torque without dtuk. Blue curve on d right is torque with dtuk. Curve starts from 1650rpm to 4500rpm. Without dtuk, peak is almost at 3000rpm. With dtuk, its extended to 4000rpm)

Ok so you also did not take the plunge la. Having owned Bimer before, I know what the maintenance cost will be and that is still holding me back. One must be prepared for it, as parts do run on rather short life.
