Copy and paste from another forum:

It is actually the noice from the tyres. Those Goodyear Excellence tyres
are crappy! Not only it is loud I personally feel that it is not grippy
as well. Tend to feel a lot of understeer.

Am actually surprised that Honda malaysia decided to use these tyres as
standard fitment on its new Accord, both the 2.4 as well as the 2.0

i'm using them for 3k kms so far and all i can say is that i am
pleasantly surprised. noise is lower than my fairly new michelin mxv8,
and the grip is pretty good. also wet grip is very good. went up north
last month and on the way back was pouring cats and dogs, but i never had
to go below 100 even in the worst stretches as the car felt very stable.
not a twitch of aquaplaning despite the puddles of standing water here
and there. the drawback is that the sidewalls seem quite a bit stiffer
than the mxv8, but suits my car just fine as the suspension is kinda soft
anyway, so the stiffer sidewalls do make the whole car feel more
composed. these are made in msia.

i beg to differ on the accord. the latest accord DOES have harder
suspension that the 7th gen. that is why most people who have driven the
old accord and driving the latest tend to complain about the ride and
then blame it on the tyres. i have driven the 7th gen accord on stock
tyres (goodyear nct5) and the car is much better in terms of comfort then
the 8th gen accord. mind you, the nct5 is a much older and noisier tyre
than the excellences. if you read the reviews around the net on countries
which have gotten the excellence and you will see that bad reviews are
the exception rather than the norms

NCT5 noisier than Excellence, yes.

7th Gen Accord comfort than Latest Accord.?. subjective i think and my
opinion is tht depending on which model you compares , 2.0 (60 series) or
2.4 (50 series).

I test drive both Latest 2.0 and 2.4 and prefered the 2.0 model as it
gives better comfort ride than 7th gen Accord. Noise insultion, vibration
to steering ,Handling all hv improved compares to 7th Gen. The latest 2.4
suspension spec shld be the same with 2.0 (but with extra traction
control) but I oso find it harder than 2.0 but is solid with less
vibration to steering than 7th Gen. Handling are way better than 7th Gen.

Oopps .. Sorry a bit off topic as I m not supposed to discuss cars in
tires forum. Pardon me....

Some ppl. religiously use OEM tires for their cars.

But for me, if you checkout the OEM tires that supplied to manufacturers
are mostly older generation or cut cost stuff just to keep the tire mould
cost turnover ratio.

You will seldom see a Malaysian car fitted with the latest top range tires
(unless its a supercar or tuned car like the Proton Gti).

For between the GY Excellence, I rather go for Bridgestone or Falken offerings.

Yeah, OEM tyres are mostly "okay lah, can for normal use lor" stuff,
especially on lower-end cars.
