IMO both are the same but PS2 have a huge advantage in Malaysia since the
games are cheaper and most of the mod chips they used are better than Xbox.
But if you're not short on cash, buy both. I have both and I end up playing
Xbox all the time now eventhough I only have old games. PS2 games are
mostly quantity not quality. PLus I like Xbox controller better.

If you have cash for one? buy unmodified xbox (despite what the salesman
said) and mod it using your own chip. I did that and the X never failed me.
I have 2 actually my first is pretty much in pieces due to failed
experiment. My current Xbox now comes with 120GB HDD running on Xecuter 2.3
lite, BlackstormX dash (still beta quite stable though), Complex tools (so
i wont need to take my games should i bring my xbox overseas) and of course
Xbox Media Center. Extremely high satisfaction value. Now tell what can you
do with your PS2? But I cant deny that the new PS2 looks pretty cool. Might
get that to replace my aging PS2.

I got mine at Wega enterprise at sungai wang. It's a ground floor shop near
Parkson side enterence if I'm not mistaken. Beside it is a shop selling
china knockoff shoes. Oh it's a corner lot shop. Should be pretty esy to
find since they also sell handycams, discmans, portable dvd players and
digital cameras. I think they have an offer right now, a special edition
Halo 2 xbox with a limited edition Halo 2 original game (the steel box
edition)and Halo 1. They're selling it for about RM850. They also have the
new PS2 for Rm720 (or is it 750 not sure) but it's not modified yet.

value for marneeee???..what do u mean?re-sale value?...for re-sale value i
dont think that much...maybe u get half of the price u bought,i got my ps2
in end 2000 for RM1600++,now for new PS2 u can get half the price or maybe
less...for second hand u can get about RM400-RM500.
for me PS2 have tons of games but a bit lack of graphic and for Xbox
better graphic but less games...maybe it will be more quality game in the
future...the problem is most of the games creator are from Japan and so
most of already made a deal with Sony...only recently they have multiple
console games...this is just my thought.
if u decide to buy PS2...try Metal Gear Solid 4 Snake Eater...and that
what i call value for my marneee (RM5.00) Big Smile

*thinking to change my PS2 to new slim one..but i heard the mod one still
not available...not sure about that.

Wega is where eric81 bought his xbox from.

Aloo eric81, actually before buying any games, check for the game reviews
first at GameSpy.com or GameSpot.com <the best, period>... from there you
can make your decision/choice on what game to buy. Burnout 3 & Need For
Speed Underground 2 is a must have in your collection. I'm totally agreed
with what issey mention about selecting games you played. BTW, I had
modified my Xbox but still no budget to upgrade the hardisk like V70R
did. Currently my Xbox is full with mp3s, SNES & Sega Genesis ROMS and
QUAKE deathmatch DivX movies. Xbox is totally cool machine when you know
what to do with it!!... my PS2, is collecting dust under my old VHS.

LOL.... I only deal with Simon or Amy. Amy is the honest one, and simon is
not trying to cheat me out badly, unless I let my guard down. As for your
friend kenny, i only buy from him once, that is my handycam. He manage to
squeeze an extra RM200 from me from the price that simon gave me, crap.
Anyways i was pretty desperate at that time and didnt really give a sh.t
since i manage to sell back the handycam to an indon guy at Sony retail
price after 2 months Smile I also potong ppl sometime LOL

edit: oh btw eric, next time make sure you buy the non-modified version as
IMO it`s a bit tougher. PLus the DVD drive LENS (not the drive) is always
Xbox weak link. The only reason I havent change it yet is because I still
havent found the Samsung DVD drive that is touted to work with the X yet.

hi there again...

You know what, the three of us share the same experience... we both buy
something from Kenny!! What a coinsidence. But so far I have the best
deal with him, he's OK actually compare to other shops who cheated me
many times and even doesn't give the warranty as their promised. But I
think you have the best deal with the Indon guy, heheheheh, damn funny
man. Where did you found that indon?? And what is he doing with a
handycam?? I know the answer... but I would be ban if I mention it here.
So V70R, you really serious with your Xbox mods and that's cool. Keep it
up man...

Quoted from http://www.lowyat.net/ Forum;

Lowyatt> PS2 or XBOX??? - New user...
19/05/2004 - Matrix

XBOX. If you already have a decent PC (like GF3 and above)...you'll vomit
at PS2 graphics. Most console games is cross platform nowadays and the
best version is always found on the XBOX. PS2 have more japanese RPGs but
sadly, 99% crappy. If you check the recent E3, there are many original and
new titles for the XBOX while the PS2 has more sequels with the same dated
graphics engine.

If you have a 5.1 HT setup, XBOX is the only choice...believe me, Dobly
Digital 5.1 gaming in your living room is just so cool...

Also, XBOX can turn into Digital Home Multimedia centre...can play
photos,DVD,SVCD,VCD,MP3,DIVX etc etc ..from the XBOX itself or on your PC
via a network...i've wired a connection from my XBOX living room to my PC
upstairs to access all the multimedia files...so many potentials!!

That is why i sold my PS2 for an XBOX.

Basically...if you:
(1) Like superior graphics, bump mapping, pixel shading, higher frame
rates, cleaner texture.

(2) Takes quality over quantity...and actually wants to finish playing
those games.

(3) Don't like memory cards.

Than buy XBOX.

if you:
(1) Like flat bland textures, lots of jaggies, lots of frame drops, low
resolution texture.

(2) Like funny japanese games that never gets translated.

(3) Takes quantity over quality...Kiasu and want to buy every game ever
made because it's err..."ahem" cheap.

(4) Plays a game for 5 minutes and throws it away.

(5) Loves to pay more for memory card.

Than buy PS2.

(PS2 fans..pls don't flame me...hee-hee...i was an ex-PS2 fan until i see
the light...
