is this a hard or a soft tyre? i'm looking for something that is durable
and lasting and good water dispersion...
my old Ziex 512 lasted me for 80,000km and its time to get something
similar or close to it...

smiley,
Each manufacturer`s UTQG rating differs.
For e.g. my previous Bridgestone tyre RE050 rated 140 lasted for about
43,000kms. Since the new Brodgestone RE001 is rated at 200, it should
theoretically last 60,000kms or more, assuming you drive about the same
way for the period of ownership.

vr2turbo,
the Ziex 522, as far as i heard, is from indonesia, not from Japan.
have not heard many reviews about this new model. the 512 was a good
selling model during its time... although it was a bit noisy, but its wet
traction was very decent at high speed driving. i've put in 80,000kms on
these babies in the last 2 years and 3 months, and i think that's very
respectable...
PoohBear2,
i was quoted RM240 a piece for the BS Pot RE001 for 195/50/15. does
that sound expensive??? my budget is sub RM200. any good buy within this
range for my size?

Smiley,
You might want to check out the Tyre Pricelist thread in this forum, as
the prices quoted are quite decent and realistic.

smiley,
At least you know your tyres. Yes, The ZE522 is made in Indonesia under
Falken Brand but tread pattern actually is copied from the Firenza ST-03.
Got one friend trying it out on 205/50/R16 size. Have not got much feedback
from him except it has softer ride over the A-Drive R1 from Philippines.
Actually for your size of 195/50/R15 is most common and have plenty of
brands, models to choose from. You will have to set your priority before
choosing your next tyres.

PoohBear2,
Maybe you can drive to Dataran Merdeka underground car park - I think the
water "puddle" is still there
Just kidding

Not wanting to get sidetrack from the main post, does anyone know if
Michelin Pilot Preceda 2 is a good buy? Soft or hard tyre? i heard its
pretty quiet and comfortable, good wet traction, but not that durable.
True??? Can last for 50k + to 60k??

Most tires will go 30K before losing grip fast.
Unlike the GYF1 and ST115 (which looks 3/4 at 30K), PP2 will still look
half worn only. But dun let this fool you into thinking it can last
another 20K with minimal performance degrading.
So the best for most tires is 30k due for replacement, for me, that means
every year must swipe my credit card at the tire shop :)
That way can get the best trade-in value and also enjoy grippy tires all
year long.
