overheating problems which can cause the head to crack. The 1PZ I think
is too expensive....still checking.
Back to the drawing/thinking board.
Considers Hilux 3L engine (not 1PZ), with option to fit turbo at a later
stage.

Engine 5L 5L
Max. Power
(kW@r/min) 72@4200r/min 85@3600r/min
Max. torque
(Nm@r/min) 192@2400r/min
72KW = 96BHP
85KW = 114BHP
Fit a turbo and be very respectable.
5L specs appear to be almost same as current Hilux 2.8.

for diesel cars especially non green engines.
Hey gotoy would u consider a 2JZ NA engine? I know someone trying to sell
one off complete with wiring loom and ecu. 220hp from a 3 litre......

u modified the fuel pump and change the internal springs?
ct20 can give very good low end if the piping sizes are correct, fuel pump
modified and the boost at 1bar...

The LC II SWB comes with the 2L engine. Maybe you can get the turbo-ed
version of this engine which is the 2LT. Better specs (vs 2L). And it is
way cheaper compared to the top of the range 1KZ-TE.
I've been in a Hilux with 1KZ and that engine is scary! Very powerful...
and expensive...
You are right about putting such expensive engine in your LCII.
Is your LC still using the 2L engine? How about putting a turbo sourced
from the 2LT from half cut shops to your current 2L?
In Japan, they come standard with 13BT engines. U can get these too in M'sia.
Hi GoToy, are u in KL? can arrange teh tarik to view your LC truck? I have
the LCII SWB too in KL.

Yes I am in KL actually, so no problem.
My LC is equiped with its original 2L engine.
I was going to fit a 2LT with the engine, however I heard they seem to
overheat.
Can you fit the turbo direct from half cut? I was under the impression
the cylinder head has to be changed too...which is the source of the
overheat.I need to check this out a bit further. Anyway, it is doubtful
my current engine would stand the addition of a turbo, probably would
have to rebuild it.
What engine are you running?

higher if not setup properly. U must also remember being a diesel the
compression ratio is pretty high. Why dont u do a search in
www.outerlimits4x4.com forums. I'm suere there are plenty of Ozzies running
turbo kits on their na 3L and 2Ls...
I'm also surprised that an original 2LT engine is very prone to overheating
especially when it's on heavy load, like climbing up hilly roads.
Coz my friend's Surf with 2LT runs pretty hot if u're climbing up hill at
full boost and at 3rd gear. The temp went up 3/4 after 30 secs of hard
engine load.
Oh well.....
I want SWB LC..... =( It might have crapy suspension aticulation but it has
good aftermarket parts and spare parts suport....

overheating. After revisiting the site, I didn`t find anymore complaints
and plenty of guys seem to be fitting 2LT`s. Think I need to continue my
research.
One thing is for sure, my present 2L is soon to be approaching the stage
where it needs a substantial rebuild or replaced. My cheapest option for
a newer engine is one of those jap imports.
I am hoping cruiser556 has exp with 2LT.
