I was going to go for a hilux engine but the road tax is going to be a
problem. A colleague suggested installing a recon Japan unit and the
price seems quite reasonable. I really want to know if the engines and
the turbo units are relatively trouble free.

to pay off to put it under private next time.
Do you know the estimated cost of the 1KZ? The stats look very
impressive. This engine seems a little too powerful for my SWB. Any
comment?

we got our 1kz with the whole vehicle... meaning we did a complete
transplant only excluding the chassis... cost was about rm30k.. if 1/2
cut not sure... sorry

I think a SWB LCII and a hilux would weigh in pretty close on the scales.
So I wouldn't think that engine would be overkill in your barge. :)

as Prado. Prado engine is estimated in the region of 15k to 20k...I had
two guys tell different prices.
Unfortunately, the 1KZ looks to be way beyond my budget. My vehicle is
not worth 30k..lol.
EDIT.
In the long run its certainly worth considering I know. I`ll have a check
around and see what the actual price will be. If I did put that beasty in
I would have to uprate the brakes, axles and gearbox too. Wow, then I
have a proper machine!
