offroader,
i haven't heard any car's crankshaft that needed to be replaced twice in 7
years...u torture ur SJ or what?hehe..why is it so fragile??...

my cylinder head gave up again..sigh....just use it less than 2
weeks...but the mechanic said this time,he'll do the repair for free.had
ordered the cylinder head 'kosong' from a shop in Kota Bharu for RM450
including delivery to Terengganu.

cylinder head 'kosong' means there's no rocker arm,valve..bla..bla..only
the aluminium case ..

tsleong67,
thanks for the help on ur bro's contacts.his really friendly but i can't
agree with the cylinder head he offered coz my regular mechanic refuse to
accept..try evrything to convince him..he even said "it's ur jeep, what
else can i say" with an unpleasant tone.. ur bro's also ofred a complete
SJ413 engine but with that transplant,it'll take longer time to finish the
job...i need to go to work on my small land be4 raining season..

btw,sorry i just realised it's SJ413's thread..u guys don't mind if this
lil bro 'tumpang sekaki'

Mike,

The suspension and absorbers are original OEM (some Jap brand) and the
bushings are local. All of this from my local mechanic called uncle Leong.
No big fancy names like old man emu or JAOS, because they're just
overpriced and no meaning for an already rugged 4WD like the jimny. My dad
is a serious offroader and he has only ever used the 4WD in his work to
travel from base to hilltop.

iwae, it looks like the best option for you would be to change the engine.
Engine problems are a hastle la, at least with a new engine, you'll hav e a
peace of mind.

i used to drive SJ413 special edition from 1999 to 2003. what i can say
is, it's a tough 4x4 and fun to drive. can do drifting also when heavy
rain...heheheheh. what a nice 4x4 i tell u.

the only problem last time i face was the carburator. very hard to find a
mech that can fix the problem. after more than 5 workshops, then i can get
the smoothness back to normal.

the brake was fantastic...the stock suspension was superb....cornering at
genting highland can beat all the luxury cars. talk about jungle..even
nissan terrano raise their white flag to my jimny....heheheh. it's
fun...really fun. at last, i sold to car dealer for RM20k to buy a kelisa.
till now i miss that jimny.

Thanks Ade_Lee. I checked with my local parts shop in PJ area and they
only have the absorbers and bushings. They said it is difficult to get the
leaf springs in PJ area. Is Uncle Leong in Klang valley area ? Is it ok
for me to get his contact / shop address so I can get the leaf springs
from him ?

Thanks!

Hey Mike, sorry about the delay, but wasn't checking autoworld for some
time. I'll get the contacts for you in the next post.

I just finished changing the clutch. Cost about RM600 plus labor, so the
car is back to fantastic sports machine conditions. ha ha ha!!!

Now i'm left with all the wiring mess within the car, purely cosmetic liao. =)

guys,
i got questions...
my friend said there is something called 'free hub' (i'm not really sure
the name) to make your town driving with this Jimny easier and smoother.
it's like a lock at the center of the wheel and u need to twist it whenever
u wanna switch to 4WD mode?
any one have better explaination on this?

one more thing,my mechanic fren said i need to replace the double gear
thingy with the size of shoe box and have 2 pulleys something...not really
sure coz i've not seen it.he xplain to me using his hand..can this part
replaced?any one selling???coz my double gear stuck and cannot engage.

replacing the whole gear would cost me RM500-600.

Free hub is used so that you DON"T need to turn the wheel lock when you
change between 2D and 4D.

Its useful if you go town driving all the time la, but if your car is with
the manual turn lock, don't bother la.

I think he's talking about you 2wd to 4wd linkage. Need to change? Is there
a problem with your 4WD system?

Wah, gearbox for 600? Can bargain or not?
