Vcsa,
I not really that experienced. Things I encountered before, then I can tell.
Things not yet expereinced yet, I ask around like you.

My original shockie was the oil type(black KYB), cheap one. I don't know
what ur original is. U can get the KYB oil/gas shockie at rm9x. I feel
oil/gas have much control when the car lifted up/down. Unlike the oil one,
sudden throw u up/down. Someone who appreciate ride very much can change
shockie as early as 40k km, someone don't bother can use more than 100k km.
It very much depend how u feel on your ride. A good conditioned shockie can
make the tyre aligned longer, thus no uneven wear on tyre. Pickup tyre is
costly!

I have no experience in those branded 4x4 shockie. So can't say anything. I
don't go offroad. I have the gabriel shockie, US made. Coz it is cheap
compare to those branded 4x4 one. Any way, I believe a light truck can
never ride comfort like a sedan.
Maybe u can spend a thosand or more on the branded and tell us the ride.Big Smile

I had tough dogs and certainly wont buy that brand again.

To me orange black and TJM are the better brands. OME is ok too.

If you wanted durability, you can consider KONI. A very reputable Dutch
brand but ride is less comfortable then the low-pressure Old Man Emu.

i like rancho parts they have fairly decent makes. however, with rancho, their current products are comparable to their products ten years ago. they dont update that often.

Hey Babygod, why did you cut and paste someone elses reply from another forum and put it here. I read the same words in another forum about the shocks.

Just curious,
is your Ranger airbag equiped?
If yes then grab the ARB bull bars.
End of the day u pay for what u get.
To me what's really impressive with ARB bull bars is that they dont seem to
rust.
The ARB bar on our Hilux been on for 10 years and no rust.
Our local bars, they are resaonable, but somehow not as sturdy as the ARBs.
The beauty is u can customise it.
U want it to be stronger, able to mount a High mount Warn M8274 winch,
power coat it.
Just a matter of $.

As for shocks i think the Gabriel Ryders are fine. Just that they dont seem
to last too long. (Also the spec i was using was too soft and short for the
Rocky).
But the current set of Gabriel's i'm running, they are so much nicer.
Actually Gabriels use to supply for a very reputable 4wd suspenion company
called Ultimate Suspension which was a direct and bigger competitor of ARB.
So the reputation is there.
End of the day all shocks are ok. Just go for the reputable ones as they
are fine.
OME are gas charged while the tough dogs use foam cell technology to
minimise fade.
I think both of them should me fine. Just that the tough dogs seem to look
tougher though.
Just my 2 cents.
