might be better than your calculation, as we all know the fuel level
indicator tends to go down faster initially/slows down towards the end or
vice versa depending on the car type and the angle as well ie when you
climb uphill or downhill. Just my 2 cents worth :)

at 3/4 full. 300-km at 1/2 full. 450-km at 1/4 full. 600-km at empty. Heck,
it's one of the most accurate that I ever come across.

all the time! Consumption is really subjective and if you calculate the
average for 10 full tanks, you might be pretty close to YOUR very own
consumption, using YOUR very own route at YOUR very own speeds, more or
less consistantly assuming all other factors remains unchanged ie road
condition, tyre profile, traffic jam, strong incoming wind, backwind,
uphill. downhill, etc
Unless the car is on dyno, we can only average consumption for ourselves
and let others use that as guideline or not...
Btw, how many liters is the full tank of your Trooper? My bro-in-law had
one and he regret having sold it to buy a Rexton!

On fuel consumption. I normally gets around 15 sen/km or 8 to 8.5-km/liter
after adjustment for speedometer inaccuracy of ~5%. That's why I find it
hard to believe the Rexton's fuel consumption figure given by my friend
even after taking into consideration my larger then standard tires
(245/70R16 vs 265/70R16).

and consumption despite the heavy weight and huge tyres!Imagine the D-max
2.5 weighs 2650kg and yet so economical on fuel! I have been told to stay
away from Korean diesel engines, but the cars I was looking at ie Rexton,
Sorento are nowhere near my budget anyway!
Settled for Hilux instead after a long battle with D-max 2.4 and 3.0 due to
better interior and redale value.

Maybe you will still be on your 1st tank of fuel by the time you go for
the 1st service!

Curb weight: Hilux 2.5 1835kg(Manual ) 1860kg ( Auto )
: D-max 2.5 not specified in brochure
Gross weight : Hilux 2790kg D-max: 2650kg
Definition for both curb and gross weight:
Curb weight or kerb weight is the total weight (i.e., mass) of an
automobile with standard equipment, oil, lubricants, coolant, a full tank
of fuel and not loaded with either passengers or cargo.
This definition may differ from definitions used by governmental regulatory
agencies.
It is generally provided as a statistic about automobile weights, along
with gross weight, which represents the weight of an automobile when fully
loaded. The difference between gross weight and curb weight is the total
passenger and cargo weight capacity of the vehicle.
