brusli, interesting reading... u manged to get an extra 50bhp from the
cyclone2. Did u get a dyno test? and did u alter the fuel injection at
all, which I believe is an older mechanical type on the 2.9 indirect
engine, not the ECU type found on the common rail newer engines. The
cyclone2 does what?

kaylcar,
I havent dynoed my Rexton, so I cant really say i've got additional 50hp.
(I did dyno my Gen2 and cyclone2 doesnt give any extra hp). But the
increase in power is very obvious. My friend who owns RX270xdi testdrove
mine and he confirmed that the power is more or less the same as his.
Another person who is familiar with RX270 also gave the same testimony.
BTW, RX290 uses old version of diesel engine, which is a mechanical type,
as opposed to the modern ECU controlled RX270xdi.

Basically what cyclone2 does is extracting more mixture (diesel + air)
into the combustion chamber, thus increasing the pressure. I believe
somehow as a result, the turbo kicks in earlier than usual, because I can
feel the power jerks even at low rpm.

The significant increase in power is felt after I went to the 2-stage,
i.e. 1 piece of cylcone2 installed into each of the intake manifold.

BTW, FC has been improved to approximately 17sen/km for long distance
journey at around 120km/h. Before that the FC was about 19sen/km.

Geez dude.... that's a GUZZLER. I'm getting about 18 cents/km 100% urban, 15 cents/km on the
highway!!!! No cyclone.

You sure your FIP is in good shape?

Darth,
my friend's RX270xdi (Lux variant-AWD) got 21sen/km for long distance
highway driving at around 100km/h. So I consider mine is better than his,
but looks like yours is much better.

A fellow told me his Rexton 290 Auto only cost him 10 sen/km. There is no
way I am believing that. So what's the usual fuel consumption of the 290?

Fuel Consumption figures for the Rexton 270 range in mpg (litres/100km)
Urban: 26.4 (10.7) - 22.4 (12.6), Extra urban: 38.2 (7.4) - 33.6 (8.4).
Combined: 32.9 (8.6) - 28.5 (9.9)

The 2.9 about 15% worse.

That is still a huge improvement over my Isuzu Trooper 3.1Tdi Manual at
24mpg (British Gallon of 4.54 L) mixed driving.
