any issues with servicing & parts. Any workshops out there that's fluent
in repairs? Is parts easily available?
Appreciate it if there's feedback on any other issues or common problems
on this model. Only worry is that since its design for very cold weather,
might not be suitable for climate here. Not too worry on reliability
though. Only worry is common wear&tear parts which might be difficult to
source here.
Thanks in advance for your feedbacks.

do with lada...
Seriously, with a price around slightly more than $10k, you get a solid
full-time 4x4 that can take you off-road in any condition. In the '80's,
they're the first all-wheel drive to come out with independent front
suspension and all-round coil springs, ground clearance of >9" and can
wade through 20" of water & tackle 1 in 1.6 gradients. Some of these
features only currently being introduce by other more establish marques.
Of course there's lots of models out there now that can do the same, but
with the features mentioned, how much its going to cost you?
Anyway, I'm just exploring the possibilities. Being russian, the only
worry is parts availability. Not too worry about skill-sets to maintain it
as the mechanicals are very simple to upkeep with least electronics.

years on sale in the '90's, there could be many hundreds still running
around. Maybe all of them currently slogging it out in places they fit

And to answer the question about the workshop in Sunway.
The person who runs the place in Norman Ching and yes he has a built up
Lada Niva on 31inch extreme trekers.
His number is 0122097988.
Best of luck with him....

to a phased out Malaysian Vehicle Online Forum ( MVOL ) in 1998. He said
that Lada was a good rig but need a small conversion to replace the carb
to Datsun carb. After that, all went smooth..
