I'm middle of considering to buy a Hilux but someone told me recently
that this hilux 2.5L model has overheating engine problems related to its
common rail. Not sure if this info is correct. Anyone is aware of this
problem (hilux's)?

I have been using this rig for close to 1.5 years now and (fingers
cross / touch wood) still serving me well daily...

2.5 L overheating. I am not sure. But if 2.8 model (3L), it has may
overheating case, especially when you are using 4x4 Low gear.

Aren't the 3L engine over 10-years old design? Maybe even 15-years?

Gigolox,
I was told it was the 2.5L hilux with overheating problems related to its
commonrail thing. Dunno about the 2.8L though.

Toyota is puting the same 2.5L engine into the new Kijang(Unser) which was
already released in Indonesia market.
I guess Toyota won't be doing it if it has such critical problem.

Actually 3L is quite good, but I am not prefer hilux, because it is too
light and when you driving off road it is very easy to over turn.

Isn't "light-ness" a good thing on sand if not mud?
