Guys/Gals,

Here are the information obtained from the event :

Delivery time : One month
Finalised pricing : Unknown - may be coming weeks
Trade-in your W@j@ : Sorry mate...Xtremely low.... Frown
Test Drive : Not available...UMW not like "other" giving public test
drive on unregistered car...you know what UMW mean-lah...Wink
Door Gift : "stylish" paper bag.
Salesman : Not that hard-sales as "Hon@#"

Anyway, make an appointment on the test drive when it's available.
Cool

Was there this afternoon. Many people and no salesman/girl attend to me [:
(].

Got a chance to sit inside the Vios. The back seat look small, not
comfortable. The interior front seat look small, may due to the big
dashboard in the middle. Overall, the interior seem to be quite small
compare to City. Prefer the City interior more.

Exterior look better than City.

RM82k for the Vios G? Don't seem to worth the price.

Maybe I shall wait for the test drive when it available Shy

yes..the interior ..City wins...and exterior...Vios looks better...
but is very subjective issue...

and the UMW SA people just stand and chit-chat themselves...not so
aggressive compare to the Honda SA...no body attend to me too..
I went to a few Honda SC during the City launching,..was attended
immediately....

for better appreciation for the City...have TT at the Honda
Jalan Imbi...(next to the showroom got a food stall...u can
have direct view..without any distraction)

Yes, it's true, the Honda sales person are more aggressive. I was greated
immediately after I step out of my Proton. (at the Honda showroom in
Bangsar).

Not sure whether UMW employed part timer. No one attend to me, neither my
the other 2 friends. Frown

Dropped by Starhill today to check out the Toyota Vios Roadshow. It is
certainly great to be able to see it “live” rather than from the Vios
website or car magazines photos.

Must say that I preferred its exterior looks to Honda City’s weird
styling. Interior-wise, it uses a black and silver theme, not really my
cup of tea (I prefer Altis/City interior colour scheme) but then again,
its just my personal preference. I remember one Singaporean reviewer
calling it an Altezza/Lexus IS200 type of interior, although I won’t go
that far to say it is so. The interior material is however of reasonable
quality, I notice the plastic is almost like the one on my Altis, but is
of dark greyish tone. I checked the center console and double confirmed
with the sales people that the Vios “has what cars should have”, eg. Low
fuel warning, high temperature warning, etc. The door locks are similar to
Altis, with the locks hidden from outside view, unlike City’s which is
similar to Iswara (visible from outside) Look inside the storage
compartment and one will find rubber paddings to ensure that the
compartment closes gently. (City also has this, Waja do not, Altis uses
cushion type instead of rubber) Anyway, I still prefer Honda City interior
but Toyota Vios exterior.

I find that the Vios 1.5G has lack of compartments, there is no storage
compartment in the mid-section (hand-brake area) save for a cup-holder.
(can an after-market one be fitted here like the Iswara after-market
ones?) Vios 1.5E has more storage compartment than Vios 1.5G due to the
extra compartment in place of the front passenger airbag. Ergonomics-wise,
Vios feels good, with everything seemingly in the right position. However,
for some reason, the mirror attached to the sun-shade is located on the
driver side, instead of the passenger side, strange?

Rear-space wise, I can’t seem to notice any difference between City and
Vios, maybe City is slightly wider (spec-wise). However, City’s beige
interior colour scheme makes it bigger psychologically compared to Vios’
dark interior colour scheme.

Vios’s engine compartment looks okay, there is more gap between front
bumper and the engine. (unlike City, which is worrying should there be any
front collision) I am a bit concerned about the antenna, doubt it can
survive those car wash machines, although the sales people assured me that
it should not be an issue.

The alarm system is of Thatcham Category 1 standard with immobiliser,
siren with backup battery, cabin sensor and tilt sensor. (better than
City’s)

Interest rate for loan for Vios is 3.49% if I remember correctly. I forgot
City’s, was it 3.65%? There is also the option for step-up installment
financing (similar to Altis type), with only RM688 to pay for the first
year monthly installment. This should be quite tempting to the Proton and
Kia owners, I believe. I tried testing the Toyota sales people on how much
they are willing to give as trade-in value for a particular car model.
Their offer is slightly higher than what Honda sales people offered.

I noticed that the Msian CKD version and the Singapore version is slightly
different. The CKD version has even the ICE system painted silver, but the
Singapore version is black. I wonder if the optional leather colour is
similar to the one available for the Vios top-of-the-range model.

Vios or City? I would need to test drive the Vios first before reaching my
verdict but I must say that I would prefer the Vios, even though I don’t
really fancy the dark greyish interior scheme. Vios, I want? Big Smile

Kasper,

moreover SG spec Vios hv the digital speedo meter whereby MY does not
hv....maybe the cost was too high for CKD equipment...
