Fellow owners,

DO you notice that our Turanza tyres seem to be getting noisier over
time? I am at almost 10,000 km on the odometer.

My tyre seems to have worn out to about 50%. Very fast for the short time
we had it on the road. Am seriously considering changing to other tyres
that is not so noisy and hopefully longer lasting.

Interesting...however, there may be a solution. Was recommended a few
days ago on a product that should be sprayed inside the tyre
wall...something called a noise damper. The fellow claims to reduce noise
by 35-40%. The cost? RM 95.00 for a car which can be applied for 2 tyre
walls. If anyone is interested, pm me and I will give the number to you.
I have elected not to try yet as I am generally quite happy with the
performance thus far...only 300+km...so not in position to comment.

Guys,

I am checking Michelin MXV (from Thailand). The dealers around SD are
quoting 375-420 each. The problem is that my Turanza tyres are worn down
to almost 50% so the best trade in I could find was 50 each. My tyres
were quiet when new but as they get worn out, noise becomes very
noticeable from those tyres. On closer inspection, I found some stress
lines along the inner grooves.

Overall, I am disappointed with the Turanzas. Hope others can comment on
this.

Generally speaking, my previous experience with Brigestones is that their
durability is not as good as other makes. Ditto that for Michelins also.
After many brands (and some heartache) of trial and error, finally found
the best (in my opinion) tyre for durability, silence, and price...check
around for the Yokohama Aspec or the Aspec dB. The former is cheaper.
Used it for my BMW and it lasts something like 40,000 with about 50%
thread wear left!

Ycng ,

My turanza clocked 15k , tyre still okay , still look rather new , bcoz
wife drives the car most of the time.

If i m the one driving , i think the turanzas will ended up same as
yours..i think it goto to do with the style of driving!

My daily car toyota is using a Falcon ZIEX-512/215/45/17 from Japan, very
good in dry , wet and quite too. u can check it out at
http://www.stamfordt...cts_falken.html

Bridgetone Potenza 030 is quite good ..but ultimate will be Potenza S03
but the price .....u should check it out.

Rule of thumb ,,tyres must from JAPAN !

just to add to Euanerin...

did you know that the year and month of the make of the tyre is actually
printed on the tyre? look at the tyre for a 4 digit marking. cant remember
whats on my Nabira but think something like 1604, xxyy where xx denotes
the week of the year, and yy denotes the year of manufacture of tyre.

ycng, did you align you wheels when you took the car back? Most probably
your tires sudah "makan sebelah". This will be noisy.

Zulhadi,

My car tyres were balanced and aligned when I first took it from the
dealer. The wear and tear seems even (no "makan Sebelah").

I checked the thread today and was surprised to see it at about 50% wear.
I also have Turanza on my other car. It does not wear out as much.

Looks like I have the following options to change to (205/55/R16)

1. Michelin MXV (RM375)
2. Yokohama AVS dB (???)
3. Falken ???
4. Bridgestone Potenza S03(???)
5. Goodyear NCT5 (RM330)

I am a bit wary about Bridestone after this experience. The key to my
selection is comfort, reliability and durability,,,,in that order.
