alright man... my car's going to SC soon ... coz i cannot bear with the
rattling noise. Cabin's too quiet to notice all that ...

comment about my optra so far -- it's a great car. quiet, solid and
adequate power. Drove to Perak during the weekends and the handling's
superb. 2700rpm going 110kph -- not bad.

Despite all that ..i'm not really happy about those rattling issues that
i'm currently facing. I think this is somekind of workmanship issue with
the Thai workers ...

I think i'm gonna get it fixed and feed this back to GM/Hicom.

Done 2.4K km in 1 month. Everything is fine.

Minor issues:

Very slight and subtle rattling noise from driver's door when playing
heavy bass music. This also happens occassionally only. Otherwise, no
rattling encountered.

just came back from SC. finally, managed to change the faulty part which
caused the RPM goes crazy intermittently. in fact the part has not
arrived yet but after i 'garang' sikit, they found a solution. They
removed the part from a brand new Optra 1.8 and replace with mine faulty
unit...phew, like this also can wan. I no complain lah but i don't think
this should be the way it is done. the SC Manager told me once they dapat
the replacement part, they will then put it back in that Optra...yeah
right !!!!

michael - do update on your rattling noise. mine has too but when the SC
test it, nothing at all. i banyak geram.

I think the stock speaker isn't really that good ... I hv to agree with
ycong about the rattling noise during heavy bass ... but then, don't count
on stock speakers too much.

About the rattling, I am suspecting the door panel not properly snapped
during the anti-theft bracket installation. I'm going to the accessory
shop later today to get it fixed see if the problem persist.

As for the dash rattling, definitely have to do it at the SC.

Will definitely update the progress.

michael, it finally happened.... my speakers are kaput!!! Still in stock
setup, haven't done any ICE modification yet! Rattling, alamak, the side
mirrors shake when there are heavy bass beats! Have to do some brown bread
or dynamat (soundproofing) installation when I get my new speakers. 4
doors will cost around RM700, maybe I do 2 doors first lah.

Michael, what ICE setup have you decided on?

i don't know man .. maybe a pair of good component speakers at the
front ... then a meager one at the back (these i got to consult you..
ehehe)

then, a pioneer set ... 5650 maybe ... and if i can find a good 2 din...
i'll probably go for it ...

but i'm kinda worried bout my door now. The leather-man just broke my
door panel (a few hours ago) ... and i'm going to get it fixed at SC this
sat....

that door is sure hard to be dismantled ... not sure if accessories shop
have the expertise to handle our Optra doors ... geez ...

we seriously need a session or two of TT to talk about this man ...

This is my biggest reservation!!! Why those doors so difficult to remove
ah?

I'm afraid that I may just have to go back to the Bagan Ajam guy to do my
installs. The tinting job he did for me, so-so lah, got a few air bubbles
but very minor lah.

But if he does my ICE installs, I dunno how good he is at tuning the amps.
If possible I'd like to go back to my usual installer. Very good price too!

Hi,

do any of you notice a clicking sound from under the steering area when
you move the gear lever from P to the left on the optra 1.8?

Wonder if this is normal.

potential - i believe this is normal. i heard that too in my 1.8. guess it
is a safety release catch when u press the brake in order to shift from P
to other gears.
