My personal rating:
Test drove Hyundai Elantra 1.6 (A)
-rated 1 star

-a/c vent looked wierd
-nice interior color
-under powered
Test drove Honda City (A)
-rated 1.5 star
-look funny from outside but interior is very nice
-quality interior
-quite comfy
-not too noisy compared to elantra
-power is just enuff for city driving
test drove optra1.8
-3 star
- very quite(i was shocked)
-gear change is very very smooth - (double shocked)
-not that powerful(no pick up compared to perdana v6)
-nice interior
-fits & fitting is also good
-a/c not that cold..

xoomie,
you can't compare a 2 liter v6 engine with a 1.8 DOHC engine...different
class altogether...
Perdana V6 should compare with classes like Cefiro 2.0 V6...then only can
compare...
Optra 1.8 should be compared to Altis 1.8, Sentra 1.8, Elantra 1.8... then
u can c the difference
a/c not cold probably due to auto climate control....have u tried manual?

zeese: If you'd like to compare among those 3 cars, simply head over to any
car dealers and ask for a test drive. When test driving, make sure you
floor the accelerator to see how well the engine noise is masked. Try to
go over badly covered roads to see how well tire noise is masked as well.
You'll hear and feel the difference... Trust me :)

LOL, if you want to feel the different, get rib of the optra's yokohama
tyres, use Eagle F1, more quiet :P
Test drive sentra 1.6(full specs) last 2 weeks,
overall, Optra 1.6(RM85k) is up to the bar to compete with sentra 1.6
(RM98)
1. Quietness and comfortness, sentra is no where near to optra.
2. Power wise, they are about the same coz sentra(full spec) also is a
heavy car.
3. Sentra has VTC engine, will be slightly better fc to Optra.
4. Interior design for sentra is typical jap car design. Optra -> the
most that amazed me is the gear box console :P
Definately Optra is a value buy compare to jap cars.
Our proud national car -> Perdana is not impressive anymore when it price
shoot to RM100k ++ :(

Funny the Brits should give the Optra engine a pasting... coz the same z-
series GM lump also powers their Vauxhall/Opel Astra..

Actually the 1.6 can outrun a PV6 easily, especially the previous
generation ones, at speeds below 100km/h. The trick is not to floor the
loud pedal but modulate it somewhere halfway to three quarters down. For
some reason the engine don't like the pedal to the floor - lotsa noise
but not much push.
Do this right and Sentras, Elantras, Spectras, Wajas don't have a chance.
This is how I get my fix sometimes. Just look at their drivers when you
leave them standing at traffic lights.
Above 100km/h of course the bigger capacity wins.
Word of caution, I still can not win against Kelisa and Kenari. Dunno
why...
