Mine is the 2.4. 2002.

2002 - 2004 2.0 doesn't have foglamps. There are easily available from
accessory shops & quite cheap. No need to get from UMW. However, I don't
think you can incorporate the switch into the headlight stalk. so you might
need to find a seperate location for the switch.

I find the head unit quite decent but for the 2.0, it is a single disc
unit. No idea about GPS - but sure there would be. Go find around in
accessory shops. Or else just get the new Nokia 6110 that has GPS lohh Tongue

If budget allows, try looking for the FL 2.0 (I think from 2005 (onwards).
This FL versions have power seats, MID, automatic aircon controls and the
foglamps.

thanks joytoy for your info

Mine is year 2003.i have seen the fogs, noticed that the facelift version
has different fogs from the year 2002-2003 model.

I also noticed that the sound when i closed the door was kinda hollow,
perhaps i can do some soundproofing on it.

Another thing is,whats the recommended engine oil for Camry? 10-30? 10-40?
20-50?

Thanks

There qre these rubber foamed pads that you can stick on the inside of the
metal door panel.

I just stick to the Toyota FS engine oil, which I think is 5-50 (can't
remember exactly)

I have posted most of these feedback on my camry 2.0E FL, 2005, in other
threads before but I thought most of you might have missed them. And here
they go:

(1) Condensation on Front Lamp - quality issue?
It happened during driving in the rain, and car wash. I was lucky to be
able to proof it to SC during car service at UMW. They washed my car and
wahlah.... They replaced it FOC with no question asked.

(2) Vibration during idling or slowing down to new standstill
Complained this every time I sent my camry for service starting from 2nd
service. Never rectified and was told "it is normal due to the low rpm".
(rmp is around 600?)

(3) Vibration during heavy braking.
Complained this since the last service. Still no rectified. Will bring
this up again in the next service.

(4) Alignment issue?
Car tends to move to the left during free hand. Complained this to SC
during first service. Rectified. But came back again recently. Will bring
this up again in the next service.

(5) Shaky during overtaking a heavy vehicle at high speed
Not sure if it is due to the high center of gravity of the car, but
certainly left like being in a kancil and passed by a high speed vehicle.
Same experience.

(6) FC average 10KM/L (highway with high speed driving). Could be higher
if driving within speed limit. Max distance travelled is 700KM without
refueling.

(7) No major problems. Mileage done to date near 70K, and due for service.

Overall, it is still a good car but I expect more from it.

Just saw the brochure for the new camry recently - unfortunately there
was no demo car available for test drive.

Two differences that I noticed, so far no one has mentioned.

(1) The new Camry has a telescopic steering - like in the current Accord.
A handy feature which I like when I testdrove Accord a few years back.
(2) The spare wheel is steel rim compared to previous FL version in alloy
wheel.

Thanks for the input.
May I know what type of engine oil that you are using for your Camry?

I would like to share some of my experience for the past few weeks driving
the Camry

Like what epal63 said, i did noticed that the vibration during the idling,
idling around 600-700 rpm. Perhaps I can ask my mechanic to adjust the rpm
on my next visit and see the result.

A slight "tak" sound came from the gearbox when i deaccelerate, noticed this
when i drive around 60-90 km/h.

Shaky during overtaking a heavy vehicle such as trailer or bus during high
speed, most notably around 110km/h above.Quite a scary experience since I
dont expect this kind of mid-sedan car to act like this.

The doors sounds so hollow.Again, i dont expect this kind of quality from a
mid-sedan.

Location of the airconds knobs are not user friendly.

Pick up wise are good, for a car with weight of 1415 KG.But quite hard to
accelerate from 130km/h onwards.

Airconds is great, superbly cool,it is a plus point.

The courtesy lights on the rear doors, UMW should put the bulbs inside it,
but no, they just put the clear case on it. I thought when it wasn't
lighted the bulbs must be burned or wiring goes haywire, to my surprise
only the casings are there, so cheapskate.

other than that, i will keep on posting later

Another thing is, the stock alarm

I can only managed to arm/disarm the alarm around 7 feets from me, I
already changed the battery ( and i dont understand why the remote needs to
piece of battery! ) but the problem still persist.

Will send the car to the SC when the time is permitted, and I am thinking a
good alarm system to replace the stock one.Is it true we still need the
remote that comes with the car key since when i asked 2 alarm installer
they said i need to retain the old one.

I am thinking either Clifford or Viper.Any recommendation?
