myawid, yep the sound is coming from the engine compartment, it is like
the radiator/aircon fan switches on and off, but happen too frequent in a
short interval especially when the engine has been heat up by some drive.

just off the air-cond and test. then you will know for sure whether the
sound is connnected to the air-cond or not. simple.

i am quite surprised. i thought the vios would be much much better in
quality and trouble free compared to the Protons and the Korean makes.

Seems to be also afflicted by unknow demons

ksb,

Understood now, thks.

skmy69,

Fyi, the on and off sound of the fan is normal,in which it is on (`huuun`)
when engine heat up, and off when engine heat low. Have heard it when
driving sometimes about 5 seconds, but not obvious and seldom happen.

I have test put to `P`, pull h/brake, off the radio and turn on the
aircon to minimum, but no `huuuunn` or `hmmmmm` sound in this case.

Any way, i wil keep monitoring it. will update here if any problem.

Hi all,

I just purchased my new Vios last month. I found the same problem as what you said:-

** The Air Con sound blow MAX with short interval time, repeating in few second. Actually what is the actual root cause for this? When I complaint it to Toyota, the standard answer to me is " Normal". I have checked with few sc near Penang here, they keep saying this is norm, but noticed other same model vios do not have this type of problem.

Need your help here to advise do you know any solution for this or anyone has been gone thru Toyota to solve this problem?
Appreciate !

Your's is a new car so shouldn't be but the symptoms is of the problem is like old car symptoms due to worn out to be either these.
1. Timing belt
2. Timing belt pulley
3. Aircon Belt
4. Alternator.

which causes all the timing of your aircon, engine to run havoc, not in syn and making funny noises. If it is really one of the listed problem, than u must claim from Toyota as it should be under the warranty clause.
