My family friend is selling his 85" Corona for 9k only. I plan to "catch" it and make it my 2nd car.
The mileage is low, 240000km, manual gearbox.
I read it somewhere recently, there's a guy transplant Celica 3S-GE (Auto) Engine, Celica Dashboard, brakes, suspension (pratically all from Celica except the front body. Estimate costs Below 8k.
Is it worth it?

Don't worry, my existance in NMT3, lesser now. Low profile liao... I just want to know whether is it worth it to invest on a 85' Corona (9k only!) and convert to Celica Engine + Auto gearbox.

Hi whlim
worth it or not depends on yourself
what you want the car for, what you expect from the car, answer these simple Q, and you'll know
for me, I want a small, light weight, RWD, fast, very fast infact, willing to sacrifice almost anything for performance
how about you?

One more thing I almost forget. My friend is selling his 1992 Corona (A) at 29K. Since that car is already 2.0i DOHC 16v yet AUto, I don`t have to mod!!!
Tough time deciding:
1) 85" Corona 1.8(M) (Gotta change engine+Auto gearbox, brake, suspension, dashboard (All Celica). 2nd car! OR
1b) Just change the gearbox to Auto.
2) 92" Corona 2.0i (A). No mods needed, just carry over my 2.5k worth of In-Car Ent. But need to sell my Iswara.

I would buy the 92 2.0
even though I don't like RWD, but I know you don't mind
the 85 TT132 is RWD, my father has one now, no power lah!
rear axle is U312 => final differential = 3.7 like from 1.3 corolla GL, not enough torque for that car lah
got a mech transplant 20v AFM into it, pick up loose kau kau lah
20v AFM = silvertop,
I call it 20v AFM because only silvertop use AFM and by stating AFM everyone knows it is stock
but 20v AFM, 7500 rpm red line + standard T50 ae86's gearbox + U312 will have top speed of 260km/h
by theoretical calculations = true assuming NO traction lost, clutch slip, aerodynamic resistance
normally above 240km/h aerodynamic resistance is very high in logarithmic scale.
