If I can recall correctly, Chemlube engine oil is blended in the US at
Ultrachemical Industries. They use their ester basestocks and blended the
oil with other ingredients and additive package to make the oil. That is
why you don't see the oil at the products page. Only the basestocks are
mentioned.
I also think the formulation is more than 10yrs old. It has a very high
dose of ZDDP and other additives that kills cat converters if you have
blowby. It is API rated to SL but I don't think it is going to get any
MB229.3 rating or VW ratings.
If the oil works to protect, who cares! I might want to do a UOA on this
oil.

How come Malaysians believe they need SO many oil changes? Do you guys
get a kick out of spending money and wasting your time?

Not Malaysian here. Aiming for 10k OCI with cheap oil. Currently checking
out Conoco 5W30.

Genie47,
Is Castrol Maganatec a semi-synthetic oil and would it be good for
10,000km?

An average dino oil will probably last you 5k miles. That is around 8k km.
With a better dino oil or maybe a blend, 10k km is there abouts pretty good
and OK. Stop-start traffic will reduce the oil's longevity a lot more than
highway miles.
BTW, there is no such thing as semi-syn oil. Oils like Mobil Super S,
Castrol Magnatec (if it is confirmed a blend) or Conoco Super All Season
Diamond are blends. Some normal dino (mineral) oil mixed with synthetic oil.
The other factor you have to consider is the oil filter. If the oil is
really good but the oil filter is crap, the oil's longevity also shortens.

I think servicing your car at 5,000km interval is the best. If Hicom is
paying for every 10k interval service, I will pay for 5,000km interval.
Well, those semi syn can not last 10k.

Well, if you think these ballpark figures are crap, go to:
http://theoildrop.se.../ultimatebb.cgi
I wouldn't even dare bring a synthetic oil beyond 10k OCI unless I am
running a bypass filtration system. I stand by my statement on the spin-
on oil filters that we so commonly use. Even if an engine oil is great,
the oil filtration system is the Achilles heel. Most spin-on oil filters
don't remove particles of sub micron levels.
Dispersants in oil will suspend these sub micron particles. They are not
filtered by the filteration system. Soon the oil will become black sesame
seed dessert and this is worse especially on modern engines with EGR.
