I am looking forward to import in a LSC LS40 which is a Ford Replica. and
am wondering on the tax side of it. am i being taxed as a ckd as it is
actually not completely knocked down. Anyone have any idea wat is the
guideline of CKD so that i don't have to pay tax.
Thanks any help will be appreciated

CKD as it is self explanatory means all the parts is assembled in the
respective countries ie Malaysia. every fully imported cars are CBU
(completely built-up).
in your case, its considered CBU. unless u have student AP. that way no
tax. otherwise, prepare to pay at least 300% import tax. maybe lah...

what about chassis and running gear? If its just body parts, try import
under R&D, or racing parts. No tax there.

anyone interested to buy a kit car, i had found out about caterham from
UK. theyre are setting up a company with factory to built CKD cars, upon
request of course. i hope the price is cheap because it is CKD.
expect a brilliant performance froma 500kg car.!!

i remember the last time I asked about a kit car the JPJ does not approve
of them. Their reasoning is that the kit cars do not have sufficient
control over built quality and safety standards to comply. I think that is
just complete BS since Proton didn't even come with ABS, air bags and if
you were to crash a Proton, you are very likely to die.
I am also very sure the UK and USA have much stricter safety standards than
here and the kit cars can pass their regulations.
