Dear All Chevy Owners,

I'm a proud owner of the Optra 1.6 on January 2005Big Smile, but I also have
some queries which I hope someone here can enlighten me.

I've done 900km on my car, and so far everything's OK. But i wonder if
the fuel consumption is high...and are there possibilities that it'll
lower down once the car is further run in? City driving, a full of tank
of around RM 60 gets me to 300km only...is that normal?

And, i noticed that my driver's seat has got funny noises. It creaks when
i accelerate. I've tried adjustin the seats but still have the noise.

I also noticed that the tyres they provide for 1.6 is way too small and
thus makes my journey noisy on the road. Its 15" but supposed to provide
60 and not 55 right? Can someone let me know bout this? And the
suspension is really bumpy, I used to drive my Waja with 17" rims, but
its not as bumpy as my Optra...is it due to the tyres??

Pick up power, is Optra 1.6 better than Waja 1.6 or wat? Cos i noticed
that my Waja last time has got better pick up power...

Thats about it for now...

THANKS!!

your FC is high (0.20/km). i believe for 1.6, the norm FC is about 0.14-
0.16. Me driving 1.8, FC sucks...0.19/km

driver seat - if u like me, love to DIY, can try to remove and check. Else
send back to SC

tyre - for 1.6 or 1.8, 55 is the norm. optra suspension is hard (no
denying). u can try changing to a 60/65 series tyre but u might need to
sacrifice your rim to a smaller size - 14". I changed to 60 and maintain
my rim at 15". now my speedometer reading out by around 3%

Pick up - boleh tahan lah. Optra not known for pecut wan. More for
stability and handling. Try driving it at a higher speed i.e. 150km/h. u
will feel the smoothness and how stable the car is.

Thanks for your reply...

I have tried driving my car to 130KM but finds that its not THAT stable
as stated. And my car swerve very easily..is it because of the small
tyres? Cos last time my Waja is very stable on highway, even when i pecut
till 150-ish KM...and again, is it because i have bigger tyres and rims
then (17inch)?

Erm, i dun think i'll DIY on the seats...i'm not good at that part. I
asked my salesman, he said that maybe i can tell the SA when i go for my
10k service. Is it advisable to run my car till it reaches 10k, then only
go for the first time service? Last time my waja, first service is at 1k.

And how's your audio player? Is the sound quality good? Mine is kind of
muffled.

THANKS!

My FC now is like 0.14sen/KM, normal road but seldom Jam.
For the same road, my friends altis comsumes 0.11 only, what a great diff.
Until now(1 month) my fuel indicator been mad. now pointed at empty. I
afraid SC will scratch everything they open, so until now not yet get it
fixed.

For the rattling noise, I took out all the dashboard panels at add some
sticky cushion, until now very quiet but at the meter area still have
weird sound.

And one more thing is that, my absorber is getting old and not that good
anymore, body vibrates very hard on rough road's surface(cause of rattles).

I hope we have LRT, MRT at all over places, no headache then :)

ah.. one more, please change your 3rd brake lights to LED, because I have
changed them and found that the temperature is low, won't melt your
reflector.

Don`t simply change the ring or tyre size... this will effect our ABS... I
been asking the SC about this.... there don`t recomend us to change even
though inside the opration manual also mension this. try to service ur
throttle body. this will also effect ur FC.
If u in penang.there will be free Tech 2 diagnosis test by luffa auto.
check by fully trained and qualified service technician. there
will check the
1) ENGIN MANAGEMENT CALIBRATION
2) VEHICLE PERFORMANCE & FUEL CALIBRATION
3) THROTTLE BODY INSPECTION

Date will be on 31 January , 1st & 2nd February 2005.
Venue : Luffa Auto Sdn Bhd (Penang Island)
Auto Sensari(B`worth) Sdn. Bhd (Butterworth)

I will be there !!!!
