Was contemplating buying a 1996 Suzuki Vitara 3-door auto. The dealer
asked for RM22K but was willing to part for it for RM20K after some
haggling. Question is, is it a good deal seeing that the car guzzles
petrol and its spare parts difficult to find?

I just need it as a cheap rugged 4-WD for site use.

what about Suzuki Jimny? I think it's more robust compared to Vitara,
considering you're using it as site vehicle.

Basic personal transport at that price is OK lah, but you must stomach
the bumpy ride and below average fuel consumption.

I hope it is in good condition. Check the exhaust tailpipe end to see if
there is black engine oil sticking there. It is a sign of damaged piston
rings due to an overheated engine. Smile

Carburettor? Also 8 valve engine, lah? Is it financially possible
to get a later model with 16 valves & EFi? Better this way.

Most decent mechanics can do an engine overhaul so long as they buy the
correct parts. Smile
