3. Experience sharing on the maintenance of this car. Eg, any major
problem or particular things to be aware of ?

4. Which service center / mechanic strongly recommended ?

5. Any club(s) or regular gathering/knowledge sharing for this lovely car ?

Kindly email anything pertaining to this car to : klcar99@yahoo.com

hi klcar99, glad to be of your assistance if I may. I've owned Swift for
the past 6 month with 15k km driven so far. So here's my feedback:-

1. Showroom & good salesman in PJ area.
- my salesman was so-so only, newbie in fact so I don't think he's worthy
of my recommendations. Just booked with whomever you feel most comfortable
to deal with, in case of any future problems(which there shouldn't be given
my case)

2. Given that you had bought this unit before, any special items / advice
during the purchase process ?
- nope, everything's normal like buying other car.

3. Experience sharing on the maintenance of this car. Eg, any major
problem or particular things to be aware of ?
- Maintenance is normal so far, was given free 2 years/50k km free service
package. Things to look out for, when tinting watch out for the ECU control
box or whatever that is under your dashboard. A few cases already that box
damaged due to moisture/water entered, and it cost RM2k++ if damaged. SMA
won't cover it btw if happened during "own" sendiri tinting.

4. Which service center / mechanic strongly recommended ?
- I did my service at TTDi Jaya, so-so only.2 service bay only and that's
it. But heard Mofaz Mutiara Damansara was highly recommended with good
service. Might go there for my next service.

5. Any club(s) or regular gathering/knowledge sharing for this lovely car ?

What can I say, Swift is a very nice car and didn't dissapoint me abit,
esp. in terms of driving fun and handling. Although I'm slightly
dissapointed with it build quality given its Japan CBU unit. Maybe I'm
expecting too much from the japanese man.

Hi Nazirmz,

Thanks for the valuable input & comment, it definitely helps !

I actually test-drive about 2 weeks ago :
- interior average but a bit "european" feel
- good steering feel & handling, really fun to drive
- really surprise with the cornering ability & stability
- 1.5 for me a bit less-power, would be even more fun if equip with 1.8 or
2.0 !

Anywhere I guess 1.5 is already good enough for lady la ....

Yupe, part of the reason is because this is the last CBU batch and the CKD
price only marginal different.

Now scratching head to choose which colour as all the colours are nice !!

well, if you compare the interior quality with Myvi or other similar korean
makes, I think Swift wins hands down in terms of design and material
quality. Fitment is not bad, acceptable only abit less than "perfect" I'd say.

It's a nice car to drive, and trust me you can use all the numbers on
speedometer, that's up to 180kmh or more. But somehow I feel that the meter
overreads at speed above 160kmh, just my gut feel though.

1.5 VVT is sufficiently powerful for town driving and long distance drive,
can maintain 160kmh all day if you don't mind the fuel consumption. Just
did that btw last week when went to Penang. FC is around average 12.6 km/l
for town driving and average 14.0km/l for highway driving, which I think is
quite good.

Color wise for ladies, I think ladies looks good in either lavender color
or the candy blue ones.

Hi Nazirmz,

Yupe, the CBU interior is definitely much much better if compare to the locals.

Waoh, you mean you drove above 160km/hr before ? Is it still stable at
that speed ?

About the handling & cornering, I was really surprise a Jap horse can run &
corner like that as it reminds me of my days with Citroen ZX cornering feel
..... something must be underneath to have such European handling feel .....

Been waited for almost 10 days already, dealer told me that they are
equally waiting for the car to be released & delivered. Apparent it is
something about the AP problem (again). Check around market information
and was told it was due to DRB management, it seem like they are holding up
for reason known & understandable to themselves only.

This is indeed frustrating & annoying, every time when certain good horses
can sell better, some monkeys will jump out and start to create all sort of
"monkey-business" which usually cause more problem consumers.

I really hope to get it soonest possible.

i hit the 180 mark within week of ownership... and the cornering ability
is the main selling point of this little car...
when people ask me about this small car, i just say that this car is for
the drivers not passengers

yeah, I heard about some problems with regards to the APs, just bear with
it and I can assure you the wait is worth it. Indeed sometimes the product
is good but the "people" handling the marketing and sales of it can be
quite a monkey...

Cornering is among Swift's forte, although some people would comment the
suspension abit soft thus allowing more roll during cornering, but I feel
that with that characteristic the car is communicating with the driver and
telling its limit(do you like understand what I'm saying? I don't!)
whenever the driver's pushing it. Compared with satria neo, during
cornering it'll roll less but out of sudden when you push it you lose grip
which I think is dangerous. I still prefer swift's way of communicating to
the driver. Abit more roll and understeer but you know what's the limit.

Anyway, even at 180kmh it is still stable, in fact its the most stable
small car I've driven(bar VW Golf GTi). No floating whatsoever, even the
steering doesn't vibrate as much! 160kmh, what vibration?

Trust me, you'll enjoy the car!

huh, Titanium & Nazirmz, you guys really made my blood boiling again, can't
wait to test the limit !

Nazirmz, I know & can understand exactly what you mean, as I've been
through such "feeling" with my ZX before .....

It's like, you will know in advance whether the horse is going to
over/under steer, and the driver still has time to re-act & still able to
control the car at all time. Perhaps the tyre will become the limit, or
the passenger's screaming will make the horse hesitate to take the corner
faster.

It's like you really "drive" the car, rather than the car "drives" you.
Such feeling = confident ! That's the reason why I'm still keeping the
decade old horse at back-yard, occasionally do it again just to enjoy the feel.

If take a local or other similar class Jap horses to do this, probably I'll
be sweating all the way with 2 hands crossing each other on wheel, with
balls jumping up to throat already ....

Now that the Swift really reminds me of such feeling again, I'm truly
surprise, as I thought such a Jap horse will run for girl-girl or aunty to
go pasar only. I was wrong.

Anywhere, was told today that the AP issue resolved and will be able to get
it by this weekend.

Huh, really exciting, definitely want 1 !!

Cheers!

yeap, exactly and totally agree with you. In fact, I've got a Jazz and
Swift at my home, but each time definitely it's the swift's key that gets
picked up, hehehe....

Honda Jazz, now that's an aunty cars/market car for you. I don't care how
"ganas" you mod the jazz but it will still drive like a auntie's car, esp.
with the EPS electric power steering, no feel!
