Basically, the Kawas you mentioned are 4-stroke
engines. 2-stroke engine produces twice the power of 4-
stroke engines. The Kawas are much heavier than your
TZM. Altough the ZXR is capable of revving 18000rpm,
the low end torque suffers because of it's weight.

Try to play with them on highway, then you'll know
who's faster. Wink

Maybe TZM really power (I nvr try b4)... but sometime
have to consider the fuel consumption maintainence &
the objective to have a bike... if main for city use
TZM shouldn't be a problem... but if for long distance
ZZR250/ZXR250 is betterBig Smile

Vt Ten and irwin

yeah, i believe it's due to its weight that it can't
go fast (slow pick-up i mean). no wonder i heard that
they are under power ones and not fuel-efficient. just
like wira 1.3 isn't it. my friend ride a zxr 250 from
balakong to gombak setia and return. it cost him RM15
of fuel. is that efficient?

i am looking forward to purchasing a zzr 250 . i
believe the last batch was produced in 1996 or 1997.
what do you think about its market value now?

Gedangsa62,

I don't think zxr250 drink fuel that much.
I think it's more fuel-efficient. I'm using it to go
work. About 70 km a day.
For RM 10 it took me 2 and a-half day.
Maybe it's the way your friend koyak the throttle that
cause the in-efficientcy.

hmmm....ZZR and ZXR250 vs TZM.....

Pickup from standstill...TZM wins hands down!!!....
pickup from 3rd rear onwards....ZXR wins hands down....
top speed on short course....TZM will win with just a
bit advantage.....
top speed on longer course (highways)....ZXR/ZZR will
win with a big margin.......
fuel effeciency....TZM makan minyak more than
ZXR/ZZR....
maintenance...if you know how to take care of it than
ZXR/ZZR will be less problems than TZM......

HOWEVER.....there's a few ZXR250 than can 'MAKAN' TZM
at standtill is around.....you just know what need to
be done and how to do it......there's 1 zxr250 than
can play with a 600cc bikes in BT3......because it
takes a corner faster and only lack at straight
line.....

SAFETY wise....ZZR is the safest, 2nd ZXR250 and 3rd
TZM....heard a lot of people 'PECAH' their 'BALLS'
when doing emergency brakes or involved in
accdient....coz the tank is very narrow.....

I used to own a ZZR250....it a first bacth ZZR, I was
among a pioneer in using a first local assemble ZZR in
1994....it's a good bike, only thing is you need to
know how to take care of it.....

zxr 250 1998 RM10000? is that the market value now?

i think should wait until AFTA comes. things might be
very much cheaper. but still don't think it is
favourable as far as 'local content'(AFTA requirement)
is concerned.

i've talked to my friend (a senior manager at hong
leong yamaha). he said price of yamaha motorbikes will
go down drastically when AFTA comes. hong leong yamaha
is preparing themselves for it and he said yamaha will
still be able to be profitable then (even after AFTA
is implemented). if that is the case, other makes
(kawa, suzi ku, honda) will follow in order to be
competitive still.

Hi guys,

For your info I've already used all of the bike's
mention. I totally 100% agree with waneterna so I
don't have to repeat the answer, but I need stress
something here. Don't buy TZM, This bike is a lousy
bike in every aspect of the safety features there is
in a dictionary.

cheers

p/s : TZM users...no offence Smile

i've own 2 of those bike mentioned above, the ZZR250
and the TZM and i definitely have to DISAGREE with
some of you guys opinion..

the zzr to me is like an easyrider in a superbike
skin.. very sluggish and totally underpowered..
definitely lose out to even some cubchai like the 125z
or rgv.. and the most lousiest thing about this bike :
spare parts cost a bomb..! 1200 for the carburetor..?
1800 for the monoshock..? headlamp for 600..? speedo
for 800..? top cowling for 150.. man.. the list goes
on and on.. and whats the second hand value..? you'll
be lucky to sell it for 5k to individuals.. shops only
want it for less then 3k.. now.. thats the bad part
about these zzr250.. the good ones are low fuel
consumtion.. comfortable riding position.. stable at
high speed..

conclusion for this bike.. if you're looking for a
bike with a decent speed.. avoid this.. this bike = 0
acceleration.. if u want comfortness and want to enjoy
the view while riding then this bike could be for
you.. so does any easyriders.. and never belasah this
bike like a SB.. it is not one.. you'll definitely
sell the bike when the RM1000 bill comes in for the
new set of valves, overhaul and all..

now the TZM.. lightweight.. has decent power and
acceleration.. the bad..? high fuel consumption..?
2t..? i dont think so.. depends on your personal
views.. in my case.. the power that this bikes gives
is right on with its consumption.. and i totally dont
mind spending and extra 100 a month for the fuel or
2Ts.. besides its parts are more robust then my prev.
bike, the zzr250.. cheaper too..!

safety features..? most importantly its how you ride
the bike that determines how safe it is.. by saying
this bike has 0 safety features means yamaha is a crap
bike maker and so there should be lots of death for
owners of this bike but do you see that happening..?
my advice to tzm owners.. get a pair of good tyres..
like dunlop TT9, get good brake pads for both front
and back.. dont use those RM10 brakepads.. those
sucks.. if u use this then dont blame the bike.. blame
yourself.. and finally.. ride with some protection
gear.. like fullface, jacket, boots and glove.. then
it'll be a bomb riding this bike.. you get economy and
performance.. but dont 'bakar' any SBs.. you'll lose
out.. Show ppl you ride with brains..

i'm not gonna comment anything about ZX2s.. i do know
a thing or two about this through my friends who own
it but it wont be rite for me to promote or bash
it.. :)

Ride on..
Rifdi.
BNG & EMC
* - here's a tip, if riding the tzm is hurting your
balls, then your riding position is not rite..
