Hey, I have an idea- allow avatars and graphic signatures/postings, but
make the users host it on a free picture-hosting server, so that they
don't get stored on the AW servers and slow down the page loading.

Personalized animated icons would be really good. Well, at least allow us
to have some custom comments.. like for Location: or Automobile: fields.

even then it will slow down the loading speed. Your browser still have to
download the avatar from elsewhere(imagine in a single page 20 different
avatars being downloaded from different servers). even animated gifs
slows down the page and serves no purpose....better keep it as it
is......FAST!

Avatars?........most of the users are still surf with the bloody old
outdated 56k modems, even with the ISDN it is still not fast enough.
So, do you think the members will be happy when they take 5 minute to
open a page?

Zamorin,

you're correct in that the loading of the avatars will be slow, but then
the message will appear quickly coz they're on the AW servers. So you get
to read the postings while the avatars are still loading.

But then again... even with plain text, sometimes it's still slow... donno
whether it's due to AW or TMNet. I guess we'll have to stick with the
current format until AW can afford broader bandwidth! :(
