For more information abt crash test and what the star rating means ... eg:
Frontal Collisions:
Five stars = 10% or less chance of serious injury
Four stars = 11% to 20% chance of serious injury
Three stars = 21% to 35% chance of serious injury
Two stars = 36% to 45% chance of serious injury
One star = 46% or greater chance of serious injury
Side Collisions:
Five stars = 5% or less chance of serious injury
Four stars = 6% to 10% chance of serious injury
Three stars = 11% to 20% chance of serious injury
Two stars = 21% to 25% chance of serious injury
One star = 26% or greater chance of serious injury
Rollover rating:
Five stars = Has a rollover risk of less than 10%
Four stars= Has a rollover risk of 10-20%
Three stars = Has a rollover risk of 20-30%
Two stars = Has a rollover risk of 30-40%
One star = Has a rollover risk in excess of 40%

Does anyone have pics of a kancil or a kelisa being crashed like that?
Wonder how many stars it can get.

There is a write-up for the Perodua Kelisa in a Press Release in UK that
did mention about the safety aspects. It can be viewed at
http://www.perodua-u...rel_11Jan_2.htm
Excerpt: Safety considerations
“Occupant safety was a major consideration in the design of Kelisa and the
body shell features a rigid passenger cell with deformable sections front
and rear. In the event of a frontal collision the engine and transmission
are designed to deflect downwards away from the passenger cell. Additional
safety is provided by standard driver and passenger airbags, side impact
protection beams built in to the doors and seat-belt pre-tensioners to
reduce whiplash. “
I don’t think the Kancil, Kelisa and Kembara underwent the NCAP Crash Test
as seen at the reviews at
http://www.parkers.c...x?model_id=1078
“Not crash tested by Euro NCAP, but it is very light, so stay out of the
way of juggernauts. All models get twin airbags, seatbelt pretensioners
and an immobiliser as standard. An alarm is an optional extra but side
airbags aren't available.”
But we have seen some actual accidents with these cars on our highways so
we roughly know how they fared.
Only the Proton Impian (called Waja here) went thru with the test and
despite scoring a 3 star rating, it din received very good reviews. See it
at

MMC Smart fared better but it too does have limitations, see at
